THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm not, it's out of a 4-banger, the guy didn't post that rather important bit of info till after I had expressed interest. Different bellhousing so I'd have to go to the junkyard and pull a transmission out to get a bellhousing, if I'm going to pull a trans I'm going to buy it on the spot, XXXX that!

My phone's still smoked, reminds me, I gotta get a new one one of these months.

Drop by for a beer or something

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'll probably swing by monday sometime....as long as you can verify your wearing pants before I stop in, I'll give the deck ornament a good waxing and once over while I'm there...and beer, it's a long f-ing ride back down to hell

If the price is right on the trans don't let the bellhousing be the dealbreaker... I have both internal and external slave bellhousings that you can have. External slave bellhousing is already out of the Jeep and internal slave bellhousing will be out as soon as I swap the trans in a week or two.

I just want to hold onto the external slave bellhousing that I already have in case the bellhousing on the trans I buy is FUBAR for some reason... but I should have a both internal/external bellhousings available in a couple weeks.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So I potentially may have just f*cked my thumb up...

I was trying to get the t-case in, i'm not as strong as I used to be, so I was using a jack to try to lift it into place, it shifted and one of the sharp pointy castings sandwiched my thumb between itself and the frame rail. It is a pretty deep gash it looks like, but it wasn't bleeding, and it didn't hurt too much. But its slowly starting to hurt more, and I feel like what happened should have really hurt.

oh really... well then! Consider me interested. Would I need to buy my own fork / lever thinger (the one that connects to the slave cyl) or do you have a spare of that as well?

my work cell is 917 696 6742, text me about 30min before you show up so I wake up and have time to find my pants

that blows. I did a similar thing a few days ago helping Jay part out his 94 in my yard (my yard is where red jeeps go to die...) - managed to pinch my index finger REALLY hard between the steering arm and rim on the front axle when we dragged it out from under the body. Same exact thing, hurt like hell for a split second, looked like a really deep gash, didn't bleed at all till a few minutes after I had washed it out. Now the scab looks like a mini vag on my finger

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

so i need to get a new wheel bearing assembly for my LP30, which at best will be 80 bucks, I have a HP30 (that needs to be rebuilt) with wrong gearing sitting around, question is this, should I save the 80 bucks (hope the wheel doesn't fall off on the highway) and build the 30? or find someone with a relatively cheap front 44?

i finally have a garage to do all the work in though, so the cheapest route works best BUT I have 2" spacers and shackles I could put in when swapping axles

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Staying on 31s? Grab a wheel bearing and stay on the cheap D30.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My truck is a tow machine. That is all :)

P.s. Who the hell in their right mind would want to buy a car?!?! :D

Welcome to the club... ;)

I just skip over the car comments now. We'll never win Travis (and neither will they).

if you still have the brakes off the hp30, all you need to do is swap the unit bearings and brake rotors off it onto your LP30, and optionally the pads (keep em on the same sides as the rotors they were with since they're bedded in for the profile of that rotor.) Rules for swapping junk on dana 30s:
* knuckle and caliper must be compatible (i.e. renix vs non renix)
* rotor and unit bearing must be compatible (i.e. renix vs 91-99 vs 00-01, pre 92-93 or so 2wd vs 4wd also matters)

You can keep your shafts or just swap the shafts and unit bearings if you don't feel like retorquing the axle shaft nuts... if the ujoints are crunchy might as well put new ones in while you're messing with it, IIRC good ones from alljeep will total about 70 bucks shipped.

EDIT: oh yeah, I'm real confused about what manual trans would be in a 4cyl 95. I THOUGHT they did away with the AX5 in the early 90s, but rockauto is saying all 95s (even 4.0s) had the ax5, and the mopar parts catalog is very confusing on the subject, anyone know for sure?

It's just the bellhousing so you would have to supply everything else. It does come with the fork pivot ball thing in it but you would have to provide the fork (about $15 IIRC), throwout bearing ($25), fork retaining clip (this thing), etc.

ok cool, I'm again confused as to whether the transmission is even worth buying or not. Trying to figure it out now.

if I throw the spacers on the pinion angle will be bad on the LP, the HP would need to be rebuilt and regeared to 3.55 which would be a wasted of money, and on the subject of staying on 31's....

does the pope shit in the woods?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

iirc all open-knuckle d44 knuckles will fit all open-knuckle d44 inner Cs... and I'm reasonably certain that knuckle will fit a Bronco spindle since it's the 5 bolt Ford pattern. Could be wrong though, 44 stuff confuses me no matter how much I read Mr N's site.

Hehe, I decided to build a D44 because I didn't want to replace a wheel bearing...:D

Both of you, especially you travis, go try driving your truck around downtown Boston, and try finding a parking spot, then tell me how your truck is doing.

A truck would be nice, definitely. But its not practical for me right now, so why should I need to get a truck because of what you guys think?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

fawked up the auto zone ball joint press pretty good with no budge from the d44 ball joint so i am taking this as a sign from god that i should do high steer

would these work as replacements for the nuckle replacements meeting up with the waggy 44 inner c's and the 78 bronco spindle?
http://www.reidracing.biz/off-road-...les/ford-heavy-duty-flat-top-dana-44-knuckles
From the link:

Based on the Bronco disc brake knuckle and fit 1/2 and 3/4 ton brakes

So yes it will work with the waggy inner c, and yes it should work with the bronco spindle.

Yeah, i saw your other question but idk the answer so just keep me posted; I'm in no rush to get rid of it.

Either way, like I said, it won't be available for at least a week or two until after I pick up my replacement transmission and can check it to make sure the bellhousing is OK. Don't want to give away a good bellhousing only to find out I need one

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'd much rather the external slave, but if you end up needing it, I'll take the internal.

Time to go wrestle with a 3/4" sheet of plywood, yay!
