THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Wtf USPS. First time I try and track a package with you in months and the tracking is down.

And as I posted this it came back up. Kind of pissed because I ordered something with 3-5 day shipping yesterday (order placed in the early afternoon). Checked my account last night and said item was shipped but USPS didn't have any info on it. USPS just received the info on the shipment but has no clue where the package is even though amazon says the package left the seller :dunno:

So that's fine, it took them 24 hours to get the package out the door, reasonable... The problem is that I selected 3-5 day shipping but the amazon 'expected delivery' field is claiming it should be 5-8 (business) days before I receive it. I'm hoping this is an estimate error and I get the stuff this week and it's really not the end of the world even if I don't get the shit until next week... I'm just pissed that I paid for shipping yet the estimated delivery is the same as if I had picked the free 'super saver 5-8 day' shipping method.

I'm sure nascar and le mans cars also dirve super easy for 20 mins to properly break in there gears

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

It's weird seeing Chris ask a question that I know the answer to. He's a genius.

See, I only know about things I've had a reason to come across. Up until Sunday morning I had zero reason to concern myself with any new mobile technology.

Same reason why I don't know jack shit about most jeep-related things, or most of the XJ-related goings-on in Mod Tech, and especially the 4.0. The only sensor I've ever changed on one of those motors is one CPS fron the first time I dropped the trans and didn't know I had to unhook it, and ripped the wires out. Saturday was the first time I'd ever had to try and diagnose a running issue specific to a 4.0.

Now that I overheated the shit out of it and developed a bottom-end knock when the oil gets up to temperature, I get to learn about that. Tentative timeline now is to get everything cleaned/powerwashed/degreased on Thursday after work, drop the oil pan that night, and attempt to pull one or more main/rod bearings for inspection. If they're not undersized and everything else looks OK, I'll order a set from Napa Friday morning and change 'em out fron underneath on Saturday. This is the 'still making it to NACfest' scenario.

If the crank got too scored or more extensive work is required, guess I'll pull the motor Saturday and ride bitch at NACfest.

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So are mine and everyone else that didn't wait "the 20min".
Gosh, you should post what you wrote above.

I can understand letting them cool from the first couple heat cycles, makes sense. But if you can't it isn't going to be the end of the world. If they are getting hot enough to really effect something, then you either have no gear lube or did something wrong.
Everybody remembers to run gear lube. No one could possibly forget that! :laugh3:

I'm sure they break in the engines/gears before they need to use them. Using the "race engines aren't broken in" approach makes me

Unless of course I am missing something and there is a rule somewhere that spare engines can't be broken in prior to installation :dunno:

Speaking of which, I stayed up way to late and drank way too many beers on Saturday night due to le mans.

You sure it was just twice? The gears were pretty fawked when i got the axle... Not sure if he sold that thing after the 2nd time or if there was a 3rd 'incident' as well (or some other completely unrelated issue that destroyed another set of gears) :laugh3:

I knew that, hence the smiley dumby!

I did the powder coating on a Hell's Angel member's pipes today. I left before they got checked though. If they come out like shit I'm going to blame it on the kid who doesn't speak english.:eyes:

Yeah, the times he ran it dry those gearsets didn't last long at all. One time was he went to change the oil after Wzoreks geared it and he broke them in. Problem is that he never refilled it. Then he geared it himself and forgot to fill it or something like that.

Then him and Joe geared it again and that's the set you got.

Or something like that

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I was expecting to leave early. Now I don't have to leave early and have lost all motivation to get anything done since I should be at home right now. Still leaving at 3:30 or 4.

Anthony, still willing to meet later or plans change?

Yep. Did you want to come here or meet somewhere in the middle?

What were your dinner plans? I'll be home @ 5:30...

Alright, that's what I was wondering. I'm fine heading down your way or whatever works for you. I just wanted to make sure that I leave work early enough that I can stop by my house on the way

If I leave at 4:00 like planned I should be able to be in the Westport area around 5:30-6 I think if that works for you. Can meet at your place or anywhere else for that matter. lmk.

Everytime I see pics from a Line Mtn race I get amped.

I want to race so bad.

I couldn't care less if I come in last place.

Adam supposedly (hint, nudge) got some good GoPro footage from the weekend.

Including the I-80 stretch I mentioned where I was on the bumper of a 500+ HP rig the entire way. Pretty epic. :D
