Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

And tourist season officially starts on Cape Cod today. Let the miles of traffic back ups and slow ass out of towners cluster the roads.

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Does anyone have Bob's phone # that they could PM me or could someone call/text him and tell him to give me a call ASAP?

I'm trying to get in touch with him before I ship that yoke... ends up the dinner I have to go to tonight is out his way and he might be able to pick it up then rather than waiting for shipping...

edit: nvm, found it on facebook.

Wow. I expected to have to read up on 70 pages of random bullshit. I was maybe 10 posts behind. Did everyone suddenly get a life?

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Rear Main seal leaks like crazy after I put in a new one. I double checked and I did everything right and kept everything clean. It's getting towed back to the shop tomorrow and if it isn't as simple as tightening the oil pan back down again or replacing the oil pan gasket I'm junking it. Pulling the gas tank I just bought and just bringing it to get shredded.

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Picking up two junk cars tomorrow, if one of them is in better condition than my comanche then it's scrap.

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

not looking forward to debugging electrical gremlins tomorrow. Hopefully the problem is an easy fix like it was last year.

Didn't get anything done today cause I had the 25th anniversary surprise part to go to.. but there was an open bar at party so I can't complain.

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Dash and column are in with the only wiring left being the headlights, tail lights, and fuel pump.

Adam also kicked ass on the brakes and got the rear completely plumbed. I just have to run some hard line tomorrow. Still hoping to be driveable by Monday afternoon.

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

When is Adam coming down to plumb all the brakes on the TJ? Its all nice and bare and easy for him to work on too :D

Hey Coin, were we serious about bringing the foosball table down to NACfest?

Sweet.

I thought about offering to help with brake lines since those are one of the things i have done a dozen times now but then I realized I had my own shit to get done in order to pass inspection and, more importantly, I had other family obligations.

Glad to hear it got done though.

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Alright, seriously question for you guys.

So, I'm going to be replacing the oil pan, rear main, and the valve cover gasket on my dad's TJ. It looks like the head gasket is leaking some oil too, (never new how much oil this thing was leaking until I lifted the hood a few days before tear down). The following pictures really suck.

Does it look like this is leaking to you, and should I replace it now, or just say screw it?

One area where it looks like its leaking. It looks like there is oil behind the exhaust gasket.

I took it to a carwash and degreased the engine and compartment, then power washed it before disassembly, so this area doesn't look as bad as it did before. You can still see some oil residue, and some dirt that was covered in oil though. This whole side of the engine is nice and black and still painted, because its been covered in oil forever. There is a section in front of this that is dry, and thus rusty.

A frame just shouldn't do this. My dad sat on the back, and you can very easily see the entire back portion of the frame moving, while the front portion is stationary. There was a loud creaking noise the first time he sat on it too.

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

A headgasket should leak no oil.. if its leaking oil youve got problems...

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That is the first time I've heard that a headgasket shouldn't leak oil. This is not the first time I've seen oil residue around a head gasket sealing line.

I mean obviously if a head gasket is in perfect shape, it shouldn't leak anything. But it can leak oil since it does seal some oil passageways.

now that i think about it your right it could leak oil :banghead: you sure its not the valve cover dripping down?

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Mark- hard to say from the pictures, but from what I can tell, it looks like its coming down from above the head gasket, so I wouldn't worry about it.
