I have absolutely jack to do today. People at this facility must hate doing work or something. The girl I work with took a half day so now I can't bug her for work.

I'd love to get a jake brake. It would help out on the hills to/from PA quite a bit. Diesels don't have the greatest engine braking (which I would think is due to the high compression ratio?).

Nope. It's because there's no throttle plate to pull vacuum against when you let off the throttle. That's where the bulk of your engine braking comes from in a gas motor.

same for me...I've only been learning the system they use here, cause everything else is built off knowing it and how it all works. Annnnd it's been unstable all day, so more often than not I go to do something and it crashes. I got an email saying they're actively trying to fix the problem. Soooo in the meantime I guess I'm just supposed to relax? :dunno:

BTTF series is one of my faves

Stock ones are heavy, curbed, and the tires will be worn out on them by the end of this summer. I'd be getting this this time next year. These are 6-7lbs lighter than my stock rims. (Stock is 29 and change, these are 23)

23 lbs is still heavy as XXXX. if youre spending money on wheels buy real wheels and not VW ones. i was gonna buy 17" SSRs or rays for my subie.. those weighed ~16lbs each. my uber heavy ADR 17" goldies weighed 26lbs, the 16" stockers weighed 24. and remember that rotating mass is doubled or something like that..

keep it rubber side down, try not to break the windshield, don't hydrolock it, and I'll be happy. The rest is stupid bolt on shit that I can get cheap or steal from what's left of your jeep.

If I can't break it I'm really betting you can't. I've been trying hard for months and have not succeeded yet. And I carry ridiculous amounts of spare parts and tools - all axleshafts, spare diff covers, yokes, balljoints, balljoint press, control arms, spare brake and fuel lines and parts etc...

you're welcome too, seriously, I have been trying to kill the damn thing since last July. I had to replace a set of control arms on the trail a while ago but I have another set in the back seat. I will be surprised if ANYONE can break the thing without rolling it or drowning it.

Oh yeah, I punctured some tranny cooler lines last fall. They're now routed such that they will never be punctured again.

Those are things that I aim for too. Sounds like I'll be wheeling an automatic for the first time.

You really have no idea how few OEM parts I have left. I guess you can have my AC condensor if I break yours.

Bah, you're right. I don't want to spend a fortune though.

Simplified, rotational energy is proportional to the radius squared. If you really want to get into it you have to figure out the cross sectional area and figure out where the center of mass of the cross section is. But if you have 2 rims that are the same size and one is half as heavy as the other, it's safe to say that it will take about one quarter the energy to spin.
