Bill, how accurate all this stuff is, I'm not sure, but I did a search on it a couple months ago since I had thoughts about installing some on my Jeep after finding some really cool strobes on a tow truck equipment site.

Yes, amber is the requirement for plows, etc, but pedestrians are not plows or tow trucks. You do need a license in MA to operate amber strobes. Post 6 here has the MA law (ya I know, its a forum) I also had looked on some of those police officer websites, where they spoke about how some plow operators were using the strobes excessively, and when they didn't have plows attached. This was all on research online, so you can take it with a grain of salt.

Hmm.. interesting. I'll have to chat with a few of my buddies to get the real accurate correct scoop. Obviously other colors are out, just concerned with amber and clear here. That post basically lists everything as a "possible motor vehicle" to mount lights on.

I currently don't have a need, nor will I ever (unless I plow) to put lights on my truck I was just curious as to where/whom you heard that from.

That pro-rock 60 has been for sale for a while. I saw it and honestly thought no way in hell would I ever run that.

Rob, the rotors don't fit onto the hubs. Sorta surprised but I'm thinking that I can cut the OD of the hub down on the lathe so that the rotors slip on.

Gotta order studs and wheel bearings...

So I got the right front shock back together today. The bumpstop was completely gone. Here's a shot of the 'old' bumpstop next to one of the 'new' ones; this is what it started out as.

Turns out a whole pint of shock oil had leaked out. No good. Replaced the bumpstop and the whole sealhead assembly today, and it felt a TON better driving around.

Adam (XJLI) - were you scared at all riding shotgun around the loop? Because my buddy Jeff (who you met) bailed after 2 laps. Basically said F that. And he's usually pretty good for sketchy stuff. :D

I believe he's talking about robs old rotors. He thought he could get a 3/4 rotor to fit over a D70 1 ton hub :dunce:

The hubs are a larger diameter on a true 1ton rear, whereas like older D60/14b's came as a 3/4 or 1T so the rotors would fit over that hub.

i didnt post this anywhere because i wanted to see how awesome foa is.

one of my shocks was defective. whoever assembled it didn't seat the snap ring right that holds the dookin double o ring shaft seal thing. so i got about 10 miles out if.

foa is sending me everything i need to fix it, which includes a new shock body. without any bullshit.

shit forgot to mentioon you gotta open up the rotors go to ruffstuffs site and look at the 70 brackets and it will tell you how much

I doubt you'd have any problems with any of that. A HP D60 in the rear isn't like the magical D35 and going to explode. :laugh:

I'm hoping to get the front end on it's own weight this week to check out what the 6.5" crusty's springs give me for ride height. I'm so pumped.

Ordering all my gears/shafts/lockers at the end of this week I think. Also, I think I'm going to put some tabs on my LCAs for the shocks like Sam had run for a few years.

I think this coming weekend I'll start working on getting the rear axle together too. Then I can build driveshafts etc.

I'm so pumped.

After the axles are together/done I'm going to do the rockers, then it's going to be a lot of wire running, plumbing, and reassembly. Lots of tedious stuff too (exhaust, modifying slave cylinder bracket, modifying hydroboost bracket, making PS reservoir bracket, etc).

BTW Chris, what's the part number on your air filter? I'm going to copy you.

Yep, same wheel bearings and seal. I checked when I got home last night. I drove all the old races out of the hubs. Gonna order new bearings for each corner, 32 studs & lug nuts, and the stuff I need to rebuild the upper and lower kingpins. I'd like the axles to be ready to bolt on the rims and tires that I don't own.

Thanks Rob! That's about how much it looked like, but it's good to know for sure. It's probably better to machine the rotor than the hub, now that I think about it.

Time to go get more diesel for heat and get stuff done.

Anthony why didn't you leave all the old bearings/seals in?

I'm not removing my rears until it's all done ready for assembly.

Not worth getting grinding dust, etc. in new stuff.

I put away my new ones if I start cutting/grinding and/or I'm done suspending the tire.

The main reason the new ones are in was my studs/lugnuts were too small for my H2s, and my parts guy drove the new races and everything into the hubs for me.

Seemed like something that had to get done. What's stopping me from assembling the hubs onto the spindles of both axles all at once and then seal off the outside temporarily?

Conveniently, the threads on the D60 spindle are the same as the D70 spindle. The D70 uses a nylok 2 9/16 nut but I think I'd prefer to just get another set of 6-slotted nuts and use 2 nuts and a keyed washer like I have for the front axle.
