Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

You can not talk about bringing anything to NACFest until you've actually attended yourself. No, attending yourself does not include friends bringing things back and forth that may belong to you. :gag:

:D

Speaking of which (and funny you bring this up), I got a phone call this morning from a new-found-anti-Chrysler-now-yota-owner that needs a 3rd setup with gears.
I was just speaking in terms of what might be a good idea... Maybe I'll come this year. Still up in the air.

He's a facebook whore and sorta turned into a brochacho truck owner. Nice guy though.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm actually pretty close to having the front axle done besides axleshafts/gears.
when do the RCVs show up?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

The tow strap in Colin's picture is sitting in the back of my Honcho. I forget how it happened but colin broke my brand new strap years back and gave me his. We were driving our jeeps behind a UPS warehouse in Brockton.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Adam was there too, but eh, who cares...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I too was a mudder.... Doing wheel bearings monthly steered me away from that..

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Anthony, I just realized you paid $80 for a snap-on ratchet.

Are you serious? We got our ENTIRE 3/4" drive SET for $40.

I can't even imagine breaking the ratchet it came with.

im getting it once the snow melts.

hes just pulling the motor from it.

My top of the line Craftsman ones last me a year and change before they need a rebuild. I played with the HF one in the store on Sunday. The head felt cheezy. I'm sure their sockets are fine, but I wouldn't trust the ratchet to last a lifetime.

I'm now in the market for a 3/4 drive socket set.

That's a really cool car door idea. It looks like they got it to work well too. I wonder how reliable it is.

Does craftsman not warranty ratchets? Can't you just give it to them for a new one?

My 3/4" drive ratchet is holding together fine, I don't care how cheesy it is I don't use it everyday. Maybe once every other month if that.

Usually when I need to break something loose that big, I use the breaker bar the set came with.

If I'm tightening something, it usually requires a certain torque anyway.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I don't think you'll ever need a 3/4 drive set unless you have a real truck purchase in mind... the only 3/4 drive socket I own is the 1.5" for the lug nuts on my truck.

Seriously, buy something for the jeep instead. I love tools (really, I do, the collection is getting disgustingly huge) as much as the next guy but there is just no point to a 3/4 drive set on a jeep, and there is ZERO point in getting it for a VW.

I've broken one Craftsman ratchet, and that was because I was really pissed and used it as a hammer. The stupid little plastic lever that set the ratchet direction broke off. Returned for a free replacement.
