THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

will the calipers have enough integrity left? and i dont want any of this "h" block falling out bullshit like a lot of people do

i know i can buy a dynatrac or some shit and run 15's. but thats cash monies.

Grinding is silly. Get some blackbird customs brackets and to run 3/4 ton chevy calipers/rotors and clear 15's with no grinding.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

What's wrong with a ring gear spacer?

All D60-ISUs (and all Dodge pickup rear axles starting in 94 I believe) had tone rings between the carrier and the ring gear.

Never once heard of factory gearsets failing so I can't see why a spacer would have a different effect.

dude they're bad news. interwebz sayz so, duh

Those are real thin, correct? I don't know how thick I'd need mine to be.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

yes :(

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

They're probably 1/8".

What are spacers normally? 1/4"?

I still don't see the big deal.

Maybe if you needed like an inch or something.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

If my MJ is done in time for the Line Mt races, I'm totally doing one this year.

I have the vacation time for it.

That isn't a cheap option.

I couldn't find any instance of one failing when I was looking at that option.

~0.16" so about the same as those tone rings.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

oops. I forgot today is the 1st (car insurance payment), totally overdrafted on my checking account...argh gay

The most I've heard is .383 but that seems like a dumb number that hasn't been verified.

Spacers aren't 'normally' anything, it just depends how much they offset the ring mounting surface on the numerically higher ratio carriers and is likely to be different for each axle.

I don't see the big deal either. I looked all over PBB and found tons of people whining about it but no documented failures.

Is that for the D60? I wonder if that holds true for the D70.

I don't know, but I would assume it is close. It is only the difference between series 3 and series 4 carriers. It couldn't be anything else or it wouldn't work.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

.

it is if ross buys them for me.

and that will make ross correct by them being a cheap option.

until then ross is always wrong and sucks

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I think you can just use the D60 one. The 60 and 70 share the hypoid distances and junk (thats how the Jana 76 works) so it should be the same thickness ring gear spacer for a 70 if you wanna run thin cut gears.

:dunno:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

colin can you just ditch the tone ring and run thick 60 gears? gotta figure what im gonna do, may just get a frt carrier from someone as i need to get 35 spline side gears

Exactly, I just haven't found how thick it would need to be.

Like you said, here's the D60 spacer (as linked from your PBB thread). 0.160 thick. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MRG-904A

I have a 4.10 - carrier with 35 spline side gears... I doubt I'm using the spiders or the carrier. I didn't see 5.13T's in reverse rotation, but hell, I could just run a spacer there, I suppose :gee:
