THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'M SNOW WHEELING F YEAH

Fixed my stupid piecce of shit jeep, the bolt unscrewed I guess instead of breaking shit or stripping the threads. I figured it would have been wrecked, just bolted it back together and it stayed put.

So I'm bombing around in the parking lot again, though I get stuck and have to rev limiter it out in reverse every 50 feet or so.

Colin, I'm going wheeling next weekend hopefully (Sunday) if you want to try and get some air in it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I went snow wheeling today too. It was slow going open/open. If you didn't have momentum you were F'ed. Another kid had a grand cherokee that was on rubicon 44's with air lockers. Even he was having trouble.

bore them spindles out and stick some 35 spline action in there

I was gonna run one of those, then I decided to wait for an e350 to show up at sams and yank a 60 or 70 1su out of it for the same price, since me on 1tons is a million years in the future anyways and I'm not even sure I'm gonna do it. Just picking the parts up on the cheap as I see em and I'll make the call later.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah couldnt pass up the free end of it. Trying to figure out if the rear hubs take the same bearings as say a ford rear 60..

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I have a quiz in nutrition tomorrow, I haven't done much this semester, and since I don't care about nutrition, I don't want to study.

I don't want to do anything to be exact, even be on my computer right now.

totally missed this post... Id guess theyre Ill probably go the route of boring them like bill did on his rear 60 seems simple but time consuming..

Congratulations you just recieved a free XL dana 44 with quick change axle shafts!

Jeff at crown has everything you need if you insist on throwing that gay axle under your jeep.

bore them spindles out and stick some 35 spline action in there

You can't. The spindles are far to thin to be bored out.

The only thing cool about my rear axle is it has the same gear ratio than the front. Otherwise, it's a big dumb heavy dana 44. Any locker you buy no one will want. After market shafts will have to be custom unless you want gay dutchmans and will still be 30 spline.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I can't stress enough how gay a rear jeep dana 60 is.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Kyle before you go impulse buy that see what tooling you're getting with it and see what kinda shape it's in. Read this before going to see it: http://www.mermac.com/advicenew.html

It looks like it's a rebranded / renamed Atlas lathe, similar to a late model Series 3000, but a little more stripped down and sold to be used for some sort of engraving (http://www.machinistweb.com/forum/showthread.php?t=585). Only has two gears (forward and back gears), and only one gear for the feed screw. Those likely can always have gears added on later on an as needed basis. Looks to be made in the 1960s or so, and is in pretty good shape. Ran smooth, no grinding, looked true and straight.

I might go try to pick it up this week or weekend. Similar old Atlas lathes go for a pretty penny, this one might be a decent deal

hey man, free is free. Id run the shit out of it for that price.

I use the same method when it isn't a stock part.

Also, the roof on the gas station down the street from my apartment just collapsed, wish my 96 was under it and got totaled... could use the cash for parts for the 98 :eyes:
