THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Depends on what you do to the wheel and what tire you are running.

My wheels weighted in at ~48lbs each before a runflat/beadlock and rock rings. After that they weighted ~64lbs each. I can't help you with tire weights, but my Pitbulls are not light.
Is that after cutting down the run flat?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm not running stock runflats. PVCs out back and steels up front.
Gotcha. Did you just source the correct diameter pipe, cut it to length, and call it a day?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

worst. tire. ever. Buy some cool tires.

Nope, I bought them.
Planning on running these http://www.trailworthyfab.com/189-8-Bolt-Hummer-Wheel-Special.html I'll have the rock rings for sure but I havnt read up on the runflats so I can't make a decision on them yet.
Run the PVCs or cut down some stock ones. I have the steel ones up front (I had them out back too) and when I dismounted them to swap out the tires they were bent all over and I didn't want to redo them so I bought the PVCs (ended up ok as I bought them with my 5th wheel). The prices seem to have jumped a lot on the H1 wheel parts from what I remember. The steel ones are nice and easier to assemble, but with a little dish soap in the right places the PVCs slip right in.

I have not heard good things about those tires.

broken.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

1. Funny, jokes on you because you don't have an ARB?

2. I doubt you're going to get much for a D60 carrier

3. Are you welding the front? If you are I'm going to laugh at you.

Spartan for me, although I was thinking about the arb I found sam but don't wanna deal with the extra cost/stuff right now. I'll get my money back for the carrier so I wont really be spending any money there

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

The 12-bolt H1's with the full runflat and 37" Goodyear tire are a little over 150 lbs each. We're running those on my buddy's Bronco. The tires hold up great but it's not a wheeling truck.

Ah.

I have not only not heard good things about them, but I've seen them work like poop in wheeling applications. Ned had them for a while.

Tangent: Sean told me that he has about 250lbs of water in each of his front tires and he really likes how it changed the balance of his new buggy. I don't know how you'd possibly do that with a H1 rim though.

For what it costs to get 4 of those I have my five tsls(atleast better than those tires), 4 H1s, and everything I need to recenter and rockring the ones I have. I'll probably save a little more after you pay for shipping.

The GY's will be a temporary tire and of the last things to be purchased. I need to prep the unibody and a 3 link before the axles even come near the Jeep. I plan to have the brackets tacked on and for the most part, ready to go in after they are geared, locked, and over hauled. My plan is basically get these ready to be bolted in, and when the time comes have at most a week of down time through out the project. The only reason I wanted to know a rough weight of them is because when I build the tire carrier, I don't want to build it to handle a 33 at the time just to have to redo it when a larger/heavier tire comes along. I'd rather do it once with knowledge of what is to come like I'm doing for the rest of the Jeep.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Man are you living in an ideal world Keith.

Are you planning on getting a 78-79 HP60?

If not, good luck getting your LCA much further inboard than mine on the axle side unless you want it completely welded to cast.

In order to do that, you have to get it under there and make sure your control arms will clear everything.

You're going to pay good money for a mockup tire?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So the 3 link will have to wait for the axle to go under the front. But if I have all the brackets and the supply I can get the front done in a reletivly short time frame. I will still have the axles built up to that point. And as far as what 60s I end up with, time will only tell. I'll take the best deal on what I can find.

I'll probably run them for a while if I buy them, but I'll sip and groove them to get a little better results from them.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

How are you going to know what angle your control arms are going to sit at?

Are you going to guess? Or are you going to wait and build your brackets to match the angles your arms sit at so your joints aren't close to maxed out at ride height?

Holy crap I sound like Bill. Someone shut me the hell up.
