THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I need to find a flush drain plug for my NP435 or else I can't take out my passenger side LCA bolt without first draining the trans. Either that or bolting the control arm up first then the transmission.

Put that on the list...I think it's 5/8-11 but I'll double check that tomorrow. Already found a bolt that might work on McMaster.

Sounds like chrysler OEM to me

Can't take the inspection plate bolts out without dropping the exhaust, can't get a socket on the cv joint front ds bolts, can't get a decent size socket and wrench on the pass uca bolt, can't get to the ac evaporator and heater core without disassembling the whole dash, etc

Like a drain plug with a recessed hex vs. a square sticking out?

Probably a tapered pipe thread if I had to guess...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

What does? The size of the drain plug?

It's a Ford NP435...though I'm sure they didn't change the drain plug between models for each company (Ford, GM, and Dodge all used it).

Sorry, I edited my post :laugh3: sounds like something I would see in a chrysler fsm. "Drain transmission, then remove lca bolt."

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah Chris, it looks like that.

Here's the drain plug you can kinda see in the far right of this pic:

And here's the fill plug in the middle of this pic (exactly the same as the drain)

My only other concern is that there's a magnet on the drain plug to catch crap. I wonder if I should add a magnet to the back of the PTO cover or something.

What's your game?

And as a side topic for further discussion in the morning, any blackjack enthusiasts here?
Last night it was pitch.
I'm in the same boat. :( These axles are staying just the way they are though.

Got the front axle all back together tonight, including a major clustershit on the driver side. Right now it's assembled...but that's the side with the slightly twisted stub shaft, and now it has a crossthreaded spindle and two different style spindle nuts on it. It'll all be replaced before the first race but for now, it's gonna need an impact gun to get those spindle nuts off. Thing's pretty well screwed.

Didn't have the metal I needed to do the new hydro-assist clamp, so the old one is back on again. That's easy enough to swap out once I get the right stuff though.

Doing the shocks tomorrow, and everything should be ready to go by Friday evening for the snow. :D
I acutally was up early so I pulled the Jeep out and made sure I was good to go too. :)
Bronco Graveyard had the spindles for ~$75.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

3/8" NPT has an approximate OD of 0.675", where 5/8" would be 0.625".

Not sayin' that's what it is, but does that sound possible?

Sounds very possible.

I'll have to check it out when I get home and measure it.

Where the hell would I get a flush mount one of those?

I couldn't find anything NPT on McMasterCarr, but I probably suck at searching.

They look like they're all more expensive now.

And apparently I'm not gonna find a Dodge/Chevy D60 spindle at a place called Bronco Graveyard. :laugh3:

I got one from Doug last time for like $115 or something...I'll probably just end up getting the outer stub, spindle, nut kit, etc all at once.

I suppose I *could* try and get the stub warrantied again...wonder if PORC still has my order info from almost 4 years ago. I'd kinda like to keep it as a spare anyway.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Colin.

McMaster #4534K43. A whopping $0.90.

Do you think I should just get the one with the magnet considering the factory had one there?

I kind of like the idea of keeping the magnet.

Shoulda just built it to clear......

Yes, build my suspension around a drain plug that costs a miniscule amount of money.

I would love to know how your brain works.

:D
