THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I watched a minute of it and all it was was some guys collection of anvils.
Be patient. It's not like it only goes 10' in the air.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Anthony, what are you gonna do with your old clutch and stuff?

Right now I have 2 choices - buy a flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, etc on rockauto, or buy from the junkyard. I'd rather put money in your pocket than either rockauto or the junkyard unless I have a damn good reason to go with a new clutch and stuff, and I don't really feel like spending hours pulling a transmission just to get to the clutch hardware if I don't have to.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

im multi-tasking. collecting jeep parts, and actually working on the banshee...next upgrade is a DC conversion with HID headlights, a tther kill switch and some other wiring upgrades

:dunno: but I'm keeping my flywheel. The surface is mint. The clutch and PP were probably good enough to keep running and were fine the last time it drove. I had no intention of doing the clutch until I decided to drop everything out of the jeep. It could be yours for cheap.

Why do you want a tether kill switch? I rode woods/GNCC type stuff and hated them, always got nabbed on branches. I found if I flipped or fell off, the bike either just stalled upside down or rolled into a tree and stalled. I'd run a CR style kill switch. There was no way the bike would shut off untill I wanted it to. You had to hold down the button.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

How much more do you think you will be able to get for the house with 50 year shingles vs 25 or 30 year shingles?
If you plan to move the house in a few years, 50 yr shingles hardly seem worth it to me.

Let me know how much you want for the clutch/PP (unless you're keeping the PP too, in which case just the clutch) and I'll drop by sometime for it - you going to the UJ party Saturday?

dunno. I figure it'll fetch about the same price either way, but I like the look of the 50 years better. Might go with 30 years but probably 50 year... the price difference wasn't all that much (about 600 bucks) even including the 3bd/square vs 4bd/square difference. I know the roof structure can handle it, too, after all it supported 6-10 layers of regular 3-tab shingles for the last few decades... :roflmao:

the banshee has more than enough power to keep going even if i fall off. ive run tethers on all my dirt bikes, snowmobiles and ATVs and always liked them. dirt bikes i can understand not using one since its gonna fall over anyways. but the banshee is more than likley gonna keep going haha

The Biggest difference I see is the 50 year is going to be harder to work in the cold

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Hey Chris... do you see any movement with the rear cage where you have the coilovers tied to it? Ever break any of those welds on the cage? I am thinking I need to add a bit more support to my rear cage where my shocks tie in now to take the weight of the rear of the Jeep/wheeling better, but seeing how your rear mounts are done, maybe I don't have to. Have any better pics of your rear upper shock mounts?

Haven't had a single problem. Here's a few more shots...there are some additional gussets at the 'important' corners...

Neither the limit straps or the bumpstops are part of that though, which is probably a wise choice. So the cage never sees any of the 'sudden' impacts.

It was pretty much just a quick & dirty way to get it up and running, because ideally I do still wanna notch the rear frame, raise the airbumps higher, do away with a lot of the inside cage work, etc. But it's wheelin' for now.

Anybody have any extra D60 spindle nut sets? Rockauto wants $25 a set.

Poly performance has 'em for $20 if you're ordering stuff from there.

I don't even know... certainly no more than $30. My new clutch kit came with a PP, so I don't need this one.

I won't be at the UJ party. My cousin announced that her wedding is going to be the same night a little more than a month ago. And no, she's not pregnant. That's not possible in the relationship she's in.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yep. I want a short break from the Jeep. It's been a long time since I've done something like this or worked with wood. I'm really looking forward to the temporary change of pace. I know I haven't gotten all that far with mine to 'take a break' but oh well. I'm doing it anyway.
A break from what? :laugh2: I haven't seen anything done yet besides a weekend's worth of cutting.
Working with wood is fun as well, I'll give you that.
Oh come on, it's an anvil getting shot into the air with black powder. If you think that's dumb I'm revoking your man-card.
Exactly, neat video. I like the "You'll never be the same after you see this ."

I got mine from Bronco Graveyard for $15/each. Or as Chris mentioned, Poly has them too.

That is acutally a collection worth taking photos of, pretty neat stuff.

Depends on the buyer, but a new roof always adds to the resale.

Just Differentials said:
Pinion Spline Length: Long splines for use in 93 & newer (92 & older will require new pinion yoke)

Hmm, interesting. So an older 10.25 only needs a new yoke to run the newer gear set. That means I can get up to 5.38 and that's PERFECT.

True that... they are probably gonna be stiff as boards. Things seem decent to work in the sun, but as soon as it gets dark, forget about it.

Already bought all the starter course shingles (1 board should do the job, did some measurements and I have ~100 feet of eaves rounding up) and drip edge, that's my project for tonight, along with the couple remaining strips of tarpaper I have to put down. Tomorrow night's project is buying the shingles, hauling them to Southbridge, and stacking them in the dining room and kitchen. Will be 66bd if I go 30 year or 88 if I go 50 year, plus ridge caps.

I don't even know... certainly no more than $30. My new clutch kit came with a PP, so I don't need this one.

oh yeah, forgot I saw that on the UJ forum. Consider it sold, I think 30 is what they quoted me at the junkyard and it saves me having to jack a jeep up on frozen mud and rip the tranny out.

Good deal, thanks for the pics. I never plan on racing my hoopty, so I probably wouldn't need as much steel as you have into yours, but I am thinking that tying in the shock hoops on mine into the upper portion of the cage would be a good idea. And to add a few gussets at a few of the key corners too. If you look back a few pages, there is a pic of how mine is set up now. I plan to leave the mounting position for the rear shocks in the same place (or close).

Oh come on, the frame plating and crossmember took time. :laugh3:

It's going to be mostly MDF, epoxy, and fiberglass, but either way, it'll be not metal, not greasy, and not rusty. I made reasonable estimates as to how long I think it will take to accomplish each task, doubled that amount of time and I think I'll be able to get it completed over the course of a 3-day weekend. Conveniently, there's one of those coming up. The only thing that is likely to not be completed perfectly is the tweeter pods.

If the JY wants $30, then give me $20.

Even *I* don't need as much steel as I have into mine.

Colin, I remembered I got my spindle nut sets from Doug @ Extreme Axle. The price seemed reasonable enough and you'd save on shipping if nothing else.
