THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Woohoo I'm still Colin's friend!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Oh come on, the frame plating and crossmember took time. :laugh3:

It's going to be mostly MDF, epoxy, and fiberglass, but either way, it'll be not metal, not greasy, and not rusty. I made reasonable estimates as to how long I think it will take to accomplish each task, doubled that amount of time and I think I'll be able to get it completed over the course of a 3-day weekend. Conveniently, there's one of those coming up. The only thing that is likely to not be completed perfectly is the tweeter pods.

If the JY wants $30, then give me $20.
either way. I don't recall, it was somewhere around that much. 30 is worth it just to not have to pull it myself

Ken- no matter what you get for shingles, don't expect more then 25 years. And cold shingles LOVE to split when trying to nail then ;)
 this is going to suck. My plan is to keep them warm by putting a few bundles in the jeep at a time with the heat cranked. It also seems to stay around 30 to 40 degrees in the house with all the doors and windows closed these days, and the starter shingles seemed relatively flexible even without being warmed up. I'm getting 30 or 50 years because the architectural ones look better, but yeah, not really sure I believe those numbers or put much stock in the warranty.

Traviss jeep turns like shit with the welded frt
seems to jump fine though, so who cares?

I'm so leavin at 6am for nacfest no traffic and id b there by noon whos with me
hell yeah. There was also 0 traffic at like 8pm and after when I was driving down (first few hours of the drive was normal traffic) but that meant I missed the first campfire :(

I'm surprised you're the only one that caught this :roflmao:

The wedding is in P-Town too.
I caught it, I just don't really care. My sister and a bunch of my friends swing that way too, not really a big deal.

I figured either she was a lesbian, or the guy got snipped.

Sounds like a plan d[][]der

Yeah, the whole family has known her fiancee for 5 years or so already. She's by no means the first in the family either. It's nice, everyone is supportive and no one is chastising them.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm surprised Ross didn't jump all over this...LESBIANS! :D

I was very, very hesitant to use it. Reason I'm using it is that it sounds better than real wood. Plywood is known for having voids which causes weird resonances whereas MDF has none. It will never get wet, and if it does, I've got bigger things to worry about than just soggy MDF.

Don't buy crappy plywood then, duh!

Dildo party!!!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I won't be at the UJ party. My cousin announced that her wedding is going to be the same night a little more than a month ago. And no, she's not pregnant. That's not possible in the relationship she's in.

i beleive a pics or it didnt happen is in order

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

They're not lipstick lesbians, and besides, they're family. It's just wrong to look at them like that.

My closed minded-ness doesn't see how this is good. I'm not calling you out or saying you're wrong but I'm just confused how this is better?

I want to hear your reasoning for this. I always thought the other way around. Is it just that a front D60 is THAT indestructible.... and a rear D60 is NOT?? I find I hardly ever need my front locker, and turn it on as needed.

NAXJA really needs the  emoticon.

Anthony, this:
So you're taking on ANOTHER project?
And now we have to deal with videos of anvils...yay.
As much as I don't like any of the pictures of vises, I did like the video of the anvils. It was interesting, and who the hell doesn't like shooting crap sky high that wasn't designed to be shot at all.

They're not lipstick lesbians, and besides, they're family. It's just wrong to look at them like that.
The pictures aren't for you dummy, they are for us. You don't need to look at them...:D

Kidding.

Colin, ARB front. I'll even go out and do a test for you later, lock the front and then lock the rear and try turning after I get back from Jeff's.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My thought process was always that the rear tires (if permanently locked together) will have a tendency to push you straight.

If you lock just the front, the wheels are turned towards the direction that you want to go rather than just pushing you forward.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Just passed through carsisle I'm so goin with colin and his posse next year

Yeah, oh well. At least I'll be able to enjoy the soundsystem every single day vs only a few times a month when the Jeep is done.

Glad you liked the anvil vid. Too bad that you don't like my visii (plural of visus? :gee:)

Yeah I know... That falls into the same category of your sister :lickout:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I think its on the same weekend as deepwoods anyways. Speaking of I think chris should come up and compete for that plus there's gonna b wheelin sat

Yep. Exactly.

My rig turns sharp as hell with just the front engaged. Noticeably sharper than rear-wheel only, and certainly better than all 4 locked.

Having more wheels pushing you straight makes you go straighter. That just adds to the amount of stuff that doesn't want to follow an arc. If anything, the 'classic' school of thought (locked rear, open front) is way more counter-intuitive to me.

If the concern is which is 'easier' to steer, then I understand it...but on a trail-only rig with full hydro, that's not gonna be a concern anyway.

One thing, is I'd only spool/weld the front if you're running locking hubs. An autolocker with drive flanges is cool too. Otherwise driving in 2wd is kind of a pain.

I hate hate hate wheeling without a locked front diff. As long as you've got the steering force to match, it's such a more pleasant experience IMO.
