Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i'll entertain driving my XJ... just wanna have all the stiffeners welded on and the rockers cut out and replaced with box steel. prob would weld the rear up too. 31s would suck to wheel on any of the harder trails but we'd be able to drive around 95% of moab and the surrounding trails.

GIVE ME GAS MONEY AND WE DO FUN TRAILS

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

On the topic of last night's discussion about air shocks/coil overs in the rear - I'm glad I cut all that crap off.

That white MJ that got linked is 15 minutes from me.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Lemme know, maybe I can stand in if you can't. :D

My 2.5" coilovers in the rear do not work without notching the frame.

The tire rubbed on the shock with that setup.

No, you're right. My tire is firmly into the coilover at this point.

I really need to move the top mounts in a few inches.

But to do that, I gotta notch the frame, and where I need to notch the frame is where the airbumps currently mount, so that's like a gigantic friggin project.

I think this has to do more with how a linked rear moves laterally compared to a leaf spring rear. Namely, the leaf springs don't let the shock mount move over that much.

Hey Chris... do you see any movement with the rear cage where you have the coilovers tied to it? Ever break any of those welds on the cage? I am thinking I need to add a bit more support to my rear cage where my shocks tie in now to take the weight of the rear of the Jeep/wheeling better, but seeing how your rear mounts are done, maybe I don't have to. Have any better pics of your rear upper shock mounts?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Good, now hurry up and put stuff back in it's place.

:D
Yeah yeah yeah....

Last night Scotty and I drew up detailed plans for my sub box/floor. It's gonna be a tight fit but will still work. The other thing that he pointed out is that my tweeters won't fit in the little door sails. Oh well, I guess I'll have to bust out some glass & bondo. It will be the one thing that makes the system not look factory other than the head unit.

I'm gonna spend my lunch break coming up with a list of materials and consumables that we will need (and how much of what)

Holy crap

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

that video site managed to not play any video and then nearly crashed my browser.

I would give you shit about taking on too many projects but then I would be a hypocrite :roflmao:

I try hard not to multi-task, because then I end up spending too much money and never getting anything done.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I would but I'm too busy :embarassed: like Colin said, multitasking costs money and nothing gets done, so I need to use every second I get even when it's dark/cold. Luckily roofing is hard enough work that I only freeze my ass off for about 15 minutes, and then end up taking my coat off.

Fortunately 3 people I trust on roofing (one of my coworkers, Tim, and a 20 year roofing and carpentry vet I spoke with at home depot) have now suggest I half-weave the shingles instead of spending a ton of time doing full weave. I just need to check my balance on the checking account and then go buy an asston of shingles...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So you're taking on ANOTHER project?

And now we have to deal with videos of anvils...yay.
Yep. I want a short break from the Jeep. It's been a long time since I've done something like this or worked with wood. I'm really looking forward to the temporary change of pace. I know I haven't gotten all that far with mine to 'take a break' but oh well. I'm doing it anyway.

Oh come on, it's an anvil getting shot into the air with black powder. If you think that's dumb I'm revoking your man-card.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Anybody have any extra D60 spindle nut sets? Rockauto wants $25 a set.

I need some for my rear D60. They have some funky ratcheting nut thing. Unfortunately, my socket doesn't work on them since it covers the standard nuts.

The one I have looks like this
