THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Not all, but a lot of XJ front shafts are made from 2" x .120 tube. I've had great results using pieces of 1.75" DOM to make the driveshafts on my rig...chop the ends off a stock XJ shaft and leave a few inches of the 2" tube on either side, then just sleeve it over the 1.75" tube. The fit is tight enough that they usually wind up pretty true & balanced.
Yeah, you can do that, but putting a v8 ZJ front driveshaft behind a 4.0/ax-15/231 with SYE is perfect. They're $20 at the local PnP up here and there's always a good supply. Can't argue with that.

When it comes time for me to make the driveshafts for my doubler setup (same as yours, but mine will be from scratch and flipped), I'll do mine home-brew...

Goddamit... My pooping schedule still isn't back to normal since I got back from Alaska.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

1.75"x.120" wall? or did you use a thicker wall?

I was going to do something similar to Carmelo and use 2" ID poop pipe and slip it over the ends.

I ended up with like 30 feet of 1.75" x .25 DOM after my buddy bought the wrong stuff to do a roll cage. I also have a clearance issue between the front driveshaft and the passenger frame side lower link bolt...anything bigger than 1.75" OD hits the bolt head at full droop. So the .25 wall has been working out well for me.

I landed hard on it once and it broke the solid splined portion of the slip yoke clean in half. Weak link migration is a bitch.

Oh I see. I'll have to shorten an auto XJ front shaft since I don't have a doubler setup (just a D20 behind an NP435) so hopefully there won't be any clearance issues.

I've still been trying to figure out a way to truss the front 60 since there's not much room on the drivers side and I don't want a monster fortress truss like Ross :D. I was thinking of something similar to your first truss Chris, since I have no idea how to bend tube and make it pimp like your new one.

Just do it to the top of the housing like we originally talked about, no need to go across the top. Then just add another piece on the DS to go from the housing to the inner c with a spot for the coil bucket. Plus, you only have 3x5 so you cant have it go up as high as mine (i used 3x6)

Why not learn how?

you should put helium in your truss to lessen the overall weight of your axle...

Yeah, The ice is really that blue. There's minerals and shit in it that make it that color. The glacial runoff water is the siltiest looking mucky water you've ever seen. These sea otters were floating in Seward harbor and the water around the whole area is that color. The water isn't glaring, it's just that color.

Colin, I saw this in Seward.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Awesome. Gitrdun. Tonight I'm going to weld stuff with Ken. Hopefully we'll be able to get everything done. I'll be getting home at 6. Ken, what do you want to do for dinner? How does some buff chick delivery sound? If we do that, I can go straight out to the garage and get stuff done rather than take the time to cook. Plus, Jenn has parents night at work tonight, so I get the house to myself for a while. Pants off!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I was planning on calling the same place you bought from last time... you better have your pants on when I show up, that's all I'm saying :roflmao:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm not AGAINST it, I just think I will suck at it on challenging terrain till I get a bit better at driving stick.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Why are so many people against wheeling stick.

I went from auto to stick and don't plan on going back.

i know plenty of people who think the exact opposite.

in my eyes. the more things that can do work for me= the lazier i can be

and i hate stick in traffic
