THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

keep the big nut threaded on a few threads and gently pry it out under that nut with a flathead screwdriver using the tranny pan as the other pry point.

i have never broken one with this method

That is how I got the one off the tranny I have sitting in my garage. But I can't do that with the one on my Jeep because there are no threads to thread the nut on.

I'm just going to break it, I don't care. I'm replacing it anyway.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I've tried this method...

From the Haynes Manual Translation Page:
Except about halfway up that scale, all the damn threads shear off the NSS, the nut goes flying, I end up on my ass a few feet away, and I resort to cursing and a chisel so I can get a new one onto the shaft again.

dayum

guess ive been lucky

do you need a nss? or just trying to get a bad nss off a good tranny?

i have a few from various years. some need cleaning though and i forget which ones.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Probably... or prepared more or something... or I'm just a dumbass, not sure.

My reverse lights on the 96 work again, but it's because I used the NSS that was on the new tranny, didn't even bother swapping it over, my old one was hosed anyways. And when I tried to get the one off my old tranny so I could rebuild it, as usual it came off in multiple pieces and will not be going back together.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Hmmm... :firedevil

I shouldn't...

I'm 100% not sure what to do.

The dual pickups in that RCI fuel cell are mounted to one of the inlets on the fuel cell, not the stock YJ pump as the previous owner wanted to keep the factory "sock" on the inlet side of the pump to protect it.

I could just route the pickups to the inlet side of the pump and call it good.

I hate being indecisive.
If it doesn't seem right, leave it, don't talk yourself into it.

Replace it with a jumper wire for starting and a switch for the reverse lights. Problem solved!

Kidding Mark, I know everything has to be "factory perfect". :)

I thought about it, I even thought of how I could wire up some contacts on the base of the shifter inside to act as the NSS. I have the reverse lights in the rear bumper that I was going to use a switch for, but I want the check engine light to go off, so I'm trying to replace it.

I got the old switch off by breaking it, but the little piece on the shaft is still there.

And no, not everything has to be "factory perfect," I just don't like when things are "completely retarded" like many of the fixes that other people suggest/do for things.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I knew mine wasn't going to be cheap when I bought it.

Especially if I add a tuner or do any kind of performance mods.

Thankfully, since I'm a pansy that DELAYS me from doing such things.

extrafixed :D

I'd just get it if it's cheap... I know multiple people (mr scott for example) who have cells like that with no issues, he's just got some rubber under it/between the metal straps for isolation, and has been running it like that for years.

sooo, if something is "fixed", meaning "problem solved", "issue resolved", etc, it's "completely retarded"?... I don't follow :spin1:

just giving you a hard time :kissyou:

i like "factory perfect", black jeep shoulda been factory on tons :greensmok sometimes im really picky about making things exact, im waiting until the mileage is exact to the dot before i swap out the idiot lights for the tach/gauges in red jeep :dunno:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Colin, remember our conversation about PS coolers earlier? heres some more info from TOTM on PBB:

For Ram assist and full hydro I use a tube (not plate) style trans cooler for the power steering pump return. The plate style coolers are efficient but for steering they will foam up your PS fluid. I run PS fluid not ATF when I can because its better for the seals.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah I remember tube/fin (or heat sink) were better for PS coolers but couldn't remember why.

I don't get why they foam up though...?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

my sturrin doesnt seem to foam up with my plate cooler

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

cavitation is some amazing shit... the navy has to worry about it a lot while designing submarine props because it will give your location away to a good sonar operator in a heartbeat.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Depends on pressures.

I'm sure it would be different if you were running assist/full hydro.

never read into full hydro

but there will always be a return for regulah steering and assist that doesn't really see any pressure.
