THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I figured mine was not going to be cheap eventually but I was kinda hoping the engine would hold together for a bit longer than that.

Had I not trusted a complete idiot friend of mine to drive behind me keeping an eye on things, it would have... never would have overheated it if he'd actually told me I was spitting bits of belt all over the highway instead of trying to figure out what it was and then assuming everything was OK because I kept driving.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I knew mine wasn't going to be cheap when I bought it.

Especially if I add a tuner or do any kind of performance mods.

Thankfully I have another money pit that DELAYS me from doing such things.

FIFY

is there a car show this thursday at basspro?
believe so... massivemobile will not be repaired in time, but the hell with it I'll drive the 96

gotta get those shackles from Colin in so it stops bottoming out the shackles so hard when I hit a pothole... it's a little painful and my right leaf probably hates me right now.

EDIT: also... it appears I have succeeded in demolishing another pair of boots. I think these ones lasted a whopping 9 months or so.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So I just checked the weather. I think I should start working on getting my doors back on one of these days... Would rather not have my Jeep full of water after Friday, esp since I might be wheeling over the wkend.

Very tempted to pick up that 15 gal RCI cell on NEOW with the YJ pump assembly.

It would be perfect for my MJ...

I'm just always skeptical of buying used stuff.

i told you you should, itll be perfect for you since youre gunna be OBDI setup. worse comes to worse, you have to buy a new pump, at least itll be an easy to find unit and shouldnt cost that much. :dunno:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I've just been reading about people developing pinhole leaks in the welds and breaking the mounting tabs when they're hard mounted to anything. Rubber insulation seems to work better (duh).

Still not sure yet. It will be nice and easy to use since it's mostly stock stuff.

Exactly the reason I went with a poly cell. You'll probably be fine if you mount it really well, but I didn't want to risk it being in-cab.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I forgot I broke the NSS last time I took it off and cleaned it. I have no way of getting it off, I can't do the screw driver under the big nut and pry trick because there aren't any threads to thread the nut on. F$@king piece of sh%t Jeep. Its hot out.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm 100% not sure what to do.

The dual pickups in that RCI fuel cell are mounted to one of the inlets on the fuel cell, not the stock YJ pump as the previous owner wanted to keep the factory "sock" on the inlet side of the pump to protect it.

I could just route the pickups to the inlet side of the pump and call it good.

I hate being indecisive.

Yep... I've NEVER gotten an NSS off the tranny in one piece.

*()&#%)#(&%)@(#%&ing cast potmetal thingus always seizes to the shaft :smsoap: and breaks easier than it comes off.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yes those tabs do/will break if used as the sole mounting point. I believe it actually says that in paperwork I got with mine. There considered location tabs. I put rubber under them when I secured them but made metal straps to hold the cell down.

keep the big nut threaded on a few threads and gently pry it out under that nut with a flathead screwdriver using the tranny pan as the other pry point.

i have never broken one with this method

I've tried this method...

From the Haynes Manual Translation Page:
Haynes: Lightly...
Translation: Start off lightly and build up till the veins on your forehead are throbbing then re-check the manual because what you are doing now cannot be considered "lightly".
Except about halfway up that scale, all the damn threads shear off the NSS, the nut goes flying, I end up on my ass a few feet away, and I resort to cursing and a chisel so I can get a new one onto the shaft again.
