THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

so does this thing run off multifuel?
Iirc, you can use old motor oil?
Or fry-a-lator oil?
The plate on the engine says:
Fuel spec - all petroleum distillates up to a maximum octane rating of 85m-95r

:woohoo: I can feed it aaaaaanything and it'll run!

One of my friends who drives a diesel wants to get a biodiesel thing going, so we're probably going to build a filtering setup and start picking up used motor oil from parts stores and garages, fry oil from fast food joints, etc etc.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Well I get 5 miles to the gallon... so you guys better start putting the miles on your jeeps pretty fast :roflmao:

I had to fill up twice on the way home (~550 miles), at about 50 gallons per fill-up.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Do you have the stock spacer? If you do, do you have another one?

Did it snap off flush with the spacer?

If all the above is true, you can crumble the spacer around the bolt with a hammer/chisel and take it out with a pair of vice grips. Heat would help as well.

That's an easy fix.

I do have a stock spacer but I never checked where the bolt snapped. I figured that with heat and vice grips (or welding a nut on the end of the stud) I could get it out but that would leave me w/o a spacer so I would still be SOL for getting it roadworthy by tomorrow. Looking back I should have used heat to begin with (and it did cross my mind) but the only torch I had on hand was my acetylene... so I just hit the bolt with PB and hoped for the best. I guess from past experience I should have expected 'the best' from my Jeep to be 2 out of 3 bolts out clean.

And Ken, does it matter if the used oil is synthetic or not? I can put aside all the stuff from my family rather than bringing it to the recycling center... though the more I think about it ours may have other stuff mixed in, aka occasional gear oil or other stuff that drips into my oil pan.. though I could work to keep that stuff separate from now on :gee:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

All I did to get my steering box bolts out was heat the end by the steering box up for 20 seconds with my ten dollar propane torch and then back em out. I couldn't get to the top one easily so I said screw it and just backed it out... came out great.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

scott bring the whole box to my house tonight. we'll have that sucker out in no time.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

good christ, my stupid turd of a blackberry (hate the 8xxx series) has now progressed to the point of not turning back on after it randomly shuts off... at least till I get pissed and hurl it at the floor. Then it turns back on.

That wasn't quite what I was trying for when I threw it, but hey, if it gets it to turn back on so I can copy my info off it before punting it into the nearest dumpster...

tmobile g1 here I come.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

droid incredible is the one i want. the droid x is awesome, but have you seen one in person? it's enormous!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

enormous phones are not something I really mind, as long as they are durable and functional.

I got the tmobile G1 on the classifieds here, really just been procrastinating copying my info off the blackberry because I'm going to have to transfer my contacts by hand.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I go through 3 gallons of rotella every 3 months.
Gotta love diesels eh... mine takes 22 quarts for a full change. That put a bigger dent in my wallet than I wanted, fortunately I don't think I'll be doing it more than about once a year.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Sooooo I'm looking into getting a carport/portable garage/etc. type thing for the winter for my MJ. I figure if I'm looking for one large enough to work in, I should get it tall enough to store my truck in when the MJ is done.

Any ideas?

I was looking here. I don't really want to spend more than $600 if I don't have to, and I probably won't buy it until the end of September.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ummm.... too much :roflmao:I'm honestly not sure but the diffs are about 18 or 20 inches across, and there are 3 of them. The axle tubes are square and 5 or 6 inches across.

The transfer case is like 4 feet long and about 3 feet across, probably 3 or 4 feet tall. I saw it and nearly died, I hope I never have to swap that beast.

man... my hips and stomach are STILL sore from driving home Sunday. cement highways with expansion joints + unloaded ultra stiff bogie type rear suspension = hate and pain.
