THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

got everything pretty much all set for NACFest... leaving tomorrow :guitar::guitar::guitar:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

nope. Mia and I broke up this weekend, I don't feel like spending all the $$ to go there and not have a good time having a black cloud over my head. Doesn't bother me not to spend the money, it's fine.

I don't know to me it sounds like you should be doing the opposite. Now is a great time to go and get away from it all, hang out with friends, wheel, party and not have to worry about anybody but yourself. You always have after Nacfest to deal with it. I hope everything works out for you though.

Anthony let me know if you need to borrow either trailer at all to move.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah, not really. I know what you're saying, but I dunno, I just plain don't want to spend the money now. I'd say a solid 75% of the reason I wanted to go was to be with her for the week, so I don't really care now. Not to sound corny or whatever. Thanks for the good luck wishes, dude. I think it'll work out in the end, just sucks right now. I can't justify spending that money to myself. Instead I took some of it and paid off a few things, so NACfest is now out of the running financially anyhow. It really doesn't bother me in the least, either. I'm glad I paid other crap off.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I love the new motorcycle tires :D:D And that they just paved an awesome street down the road from my house :eyes:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

my guess is it fell off the back of a trailer

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I forgot how much of a clusterXXXX boston roads are :gonnablow got lost no fewer than 4 times in 6 minutes just after leaving Mark's place, gps was a hindrance

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Damnit Ken, I was going to tell you how to get to 90 from leaving my place, its actually pretty easy, but we got sidetracked talking again.

Oh, and like I said, this is what the green Jeep has started out as.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Looks like im dropping my front suspension and pulling the tacse instead of going wheelin. My tacse will not keep fluid in it. I think its goin to the trans instead.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That sucks, I gotta crack mine open and find out what's going on with it since the last time I filled it I could only put like 1qt of fluid in it :gee:

And Ken, before I forget, what do you want from that MJ in the Freetown yard and/or what is worthwhile to steal from an MJ?

I remember you wanted the roll bar (if it's still there), plus said to grab MJ specific stuff, i.e. the tail lights... anything else? I may try and grab the tailgate if it's in good shape but I'm not sure what else is MJ specific and would be worth pulling.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Eh, I don't know about that. There is a seal on the input shaft of the t-case, then another seal on the transmission where the input shaft goes in.

After replacing my t-case, the tranny seal (not 100% sure here because I haven't pulled it all apart yet) got messed up, and its been leaking out and around the t-case, rather than into it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Scott, tail lights, tailgate if its in good shape, rear window assembly if its a slider window (if you don't have the tools let me know and I will try to show up and hope they haven't crushed it yet), height sensing valve for rear brakes, fuel tank or at least pump assembly if its not rusted, roll bar, seats if they're buckets and in good shape, seat brackets if it's got buckets, and headliner if it's in good shape and you have the time.

Waiting for charter installer to show up... Landlord better have gotten the utility room unlocked or I'm gonna be PISSED.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Man, this is going to be an expensive Saturday at the yard :gee: Couple questions:

Rear window assembly
: Does it come out the same way early (96-) XJ rear/side windows come out? Just a seal around the edge? If so then I can get it out w/ a screwdriver w/o too much trouble. Or, ya know, I could just cut the top part of the cab off and pull it out.

Height sensing valve for rear brakes: What/where is this?

Fuel tank/pump: Any way to check if the pump is good or bad before I spend $$ on it? can't remember how to check them... Did the fuel tank/pump assembly change at all over the years? (i.e. did they start using the same pump as the XJ did when they went to HO engines or anything? I mean, if they started using XJ parts at any point I don't want to waste $$ if it's not a hard to find part). Need the fuel tank straps too easy to find?

I will be at the yard when they open on Sat since I can't get there before the wkend due to the shitty hours; hopefully the MJ is out in the yard and hasn't been completely stripped yet. My buddy who was there last time will probably meet me there so we probably be able to get the stuff done pretty quick. Since the vehicles are raised it should be pretty quick/easy to get most of the harder stuff too. Then I get to head down to his place in fall river and wrench on his MJ or both of us will head up to my place and wrench on the XJ. Hopefully will be a productive day.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Rear window assembly - ONLY if its got the middle sliding section. It comes out like a windshield, I.E. It's glued in.

Height sensing valve - mounted to bottom of bed over left rear axle tube, connected to diff with a linkage. Cut the mounting bracket and brake lines and pop the linkage off the axle end and it should come out easy.

Fuel sender - pump itself is the same, mounting bracket / level sender is one of a kind, never matched the xj one, worth its weight in gold when you need one. Different swb vs lwb iirc. They will work across the renix/ho split but the gauge will move backwards, no big deal. Also different (pump only iirc) 2.5l vs 4.0l on renix years, if its a 2.5 I'll pay for the pump as well if it's 20 bucks or less.

Don't get the tailgate if it's significantly bent or rusted too badly.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah, I only planned on picking up the tailgate if it looks pretty good. Actually thinking about trying to use it for a split tailgate idea on my XJ... though I doubt I will do that and would probably end up just splitting my XJ hatch at some point. Maybe another "vacation during July" project if I can find a spare hatch door for cheap.

Hopefully I can get the entire fuel tank for fairly cheap and it's in OK condition. What's a good price for the full tank plus pump if it's not clapped out?

Edit: And the rear sliding window: what tools are needed to get it out? Would a small torch do the job or just some wire/time?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I will ritualistically slaughter you if you chop up a perfectly good MJ tailgate :smsoap: :gag:

Fuel tank I wouldn't bother with unless it's 100% rust free - you can get them brand new for about a hundred bucks. The fuel sender assembly is the tough to find bit.

Rear window - use a torch and it'll be wrecked. Use the guitar string / piano wire windshield removal tool, preferably while someone else is holding it up because it'll fall out and break otherwise.
