THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I will ritualistically slaughter you if you chop up a perfectly good MJ tailgate :smsoap: :gag:

Fuel tank I wouldn't bother with unless it's 100% rust free - you can get them brand new for about a hundred bucks. The fuel sender assembly is the tough to find bit.

Rear window - use a torch and it'll be wrecked. Use the guitar string / piano wire windshield removal tool, preferably while someone else is holding it up because it'll fall out and break otherwise.

First things first I wouldn't be chopping up a tailgate at all. I would be chopping up a Jeep to fit an MJ tailgate. Long story short I would be trying to install the tailgate using the stock MJ mounting hardware on the XJ. Then I would chop the lower half off the XJ hatch and try to make it close/seal like a bed cap would on an MJ. The goal would be to not alter the MJ tailgate at all so I could sell it if my project doesn't work... all modifications would be done to the XJ.

Alright, will try and find some piano wire somewhere.

ok, was just a little worried there for a bit :spin1: Cheromanche projects are pretty awesome.

Harbor Freight's wire tool for windshields is actually pretty awesome - it's what I have. 20 bucks, comes with a frog-sticker, 75 feet of wire, and two handles. You pull the trim ring off (on an MJ rear window, if done carefully, it can be reused), fold the end of a piece of wire over the frog-sticker, stab it through the sealant from inside the cab, grab the wire from the outside, put a handle on each end and drag/saw the wire through the sealant till it cuts. The real magic is in the angle you pull the wire at, if you pull too much away from the glass instead of sawing in the same plane as the glass you risk breaking it.

Oh yeah... if the rear bumper is in good shape (not rusted, not mangled) grab it too, especially if it's an OEM one. They don't make em anymore, and most of the ones on the road are rusted out or mangled. It's just 4 15mm hex head bolts.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I still think I want to chop my XJ but at the same time idk. Chopping the top can be awesome but is more or less useless for all intensive purposes. Not like I could fit tons of stuff in the "bed"

And I already had plans on checking out the bumper, I mentioned it at the yard last weekend and IIRC you were the one who said it's not worth it

Woooo sun!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Oh. I forgot that :dunce: yeah now I remember it looked kinda twisted up.

Here's hoping it stays clear from tonight till Sunday night...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

The Honda's tranny is fawked. This is going to be the first time I've ever brought anything of my cars to a shop to have them fix it. But I'm taking the tranny out and then bringing it to them. Save me some cash.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That bad? Yikes.

What's wrong with it, bearings?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah I think it's the front bearing. My Dad's friend is a transmission guy and he said he is almost positive that is what is wrong. happens all the time I guess. He said ball park is $400 but he'll se what he can do for us.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

off to NACFest :wave1:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

lucky... I'm not leaving till tomorrow evening :(

only a little bit more to pack though :guitar:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm playing in the JY on sat for MJ parts. I think I should charge a premium for the parts since I am missing NACfest to get them  maybe price I paid plus a beer for each part? :D

Edit: and thinking of beer, someone should pick me up a case or 2 of yuengling on your way back

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Damn people at NACfest are forcing me to actually go into the technical forums.

Another D30 crosspin. R&P is fine though.

They are working on fixing it now.

Tell him I'll be down tomorrow night and can bring two sets of spiders and crosspins if he wants me to. They're just decorating my desk right now, someone might as well get some use out of them.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That frontend is gonna force him into a bigger axle, one way or another.
naw he'll just fix it 12 times. :conceited

at least the R&P are fine this time. he still has another 3 days of wheeling to really fcku shti up though.
