THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

If you do that you will have SEVERE vibes until you shim it - because the axle will still be set for approx 5-13 degrees of angle in the U-joint, while the SYE requires 1-2 degrees below the driveshaft.

It'll work, but you're going to wear out U-joints very quickly and will be very unhappy with the noise it makes. Do it all at once, or not at all. I'm going to do the hack-n-tap on my 98 before I install the new rear axle, but will be driving it around in FWD till I swap in the lift springs and 8.8, as I'll be welding the perches onto the 8.8 I can simply weld them where they need to be for the SYE instead of shimming.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

scott, i will put $ that you need 4*

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Really, only 4*? I thought I would need more like 10*-15* unless I am thinking/measuring it wrong.

I'm also considering flipping my rear springs sooner or later to push the rear axle back a bit, so I want to decide when/if I am going to do that.

Edit: And Ken, I was thinking of just welding on new perches since the ones one the axle are kinda a little fawked. Apparently the ones that are on there now have a larger center pin hole than the stock XJ axle had... so when Billy beat on it the axle must have slid around a bit which wallowed out one of the center pin holes even more. I was just going to sleeve the holes to the right size but have considered all new perches too.

oh yeah... I ran the numbers and I got 18mpg in the MJ on my last tank (313 miles, 17.43 gallons), while averaging 80-85mph without city driving. I swear this thing performs better the harder I beat on it and the worse I maintain it :dunno: it got 17.25mpg on the tank before that while I was doing 85 most of the way to northern NH.

At least this tells me I don't have compression/ring issues...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I like it when its dead nothing to check on when I should be working.

Anthony pulling it up a trailer with just a winch should be fine. I pulled a heavy CJ with 36s and no ramps up a trailer with a small 3k winch.

Its funny how much NH property taxes are higher then here. That house scully listed has taxes of $4k which is more then mine and my house is listed alot higher.

I would go to Nacfest this weekend but Im firing up the buggy, so no go.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

bump, i'm worrying about having to shimmy it out of my barn without hitting the support. we'll see what happens.

Property taxes are alot up here.
Guess we have to make up for the lack of taxes elsewhere!
Some of the proprties ive seen up for sale have ten+ acres, so it would be worth it I guess.
Its pretty high up in Weare too, where Lobster lives. Lotta cheap places up there.Im aiming for that area myself.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'd rather pay taxes than rent, which includes taxes :scottm:

I'm just worried that I won't be able to finance a property that needs that much work.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I wish I could find work up that way. I realized that pretty much anywhere in NH is at least an hour and 10 min drive from where I work now.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

When it's all said and done and I need to move out, I'm going for Sandown or Chester. For anyone who has been to where I am now you would understand why I'm trying to stay at home and eventually buy the house from my parents when they downsize as old blue hairs.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

You have a sweet garage w/ a lift. And a snowmobile trail IN you backyard. Thats worth it,imo.
Nice set up over there, Keith.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So on one side of my neighborhood there is a side road with a culdesac. On the culdesac there is (and always has been) one house, a drainage ditch (for all the street drains around my neighborhood), and there was a dirt road that led off into the woods; used to just go to woods and eventually just fade away to nothingness since my friends and I used to ride bikes down there. For as long as I can remember it was blocked off by a big ass log.

For some reason I decided to google maps that area and someone built a badass house out there. link

I drove down that street over the winter and still didn't realize there was a house out there. That's awesome.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

im bringing my laptop so you might get some daily updates here and there.

OR, you could STFU and show up :D

I commend your last ditch efforts. But no.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Your not going Travis?

Do you have small roller tires Anthony? if not I have some you can use.

I would much rather pay high property taxes then pay what I have taken out every week. Looking at my paycheck for last week right now it says I've been paid for exactly 800hrs so far.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

bump, i do have a set. thanks. i haven't even mounted the 36's yet... i might get the HF tire mounter. sick of having to transport tires for something so simple.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Mark, sorry about bailing on you last night, by the time I left Keith's place it was nearly 11 (got out of work late and stayed longer than I intended) and by the time I left my parent's place it was after midnight, I figured you were probably asleep. If you're going to be around I'll show up tonight.

No problem at all, I didn't do anything last night anyways, it was all good.

Let me know tonight when you were thinking of heading over. I'll be around.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Your not going Travis?

nope. Mia and I broke up this weekend, I don't feel like spending all the $$ to go there and not have a good time having a black cloud over my head. Doesn't bother me not to spend the money, it's fine.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Travis, I hope to have green jeep after this weekend (I know I've been saying that for awhile now, but it is at least driving again) so I can come up next weekend and get that stuff from you. (I'm determined to get it in a timely manner)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

haha sounds good. I've got the stuff from Eric at my house, he dropped it off this week, and I gave him the money so it'll all be here waiting for ya
