Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm going to do a few things to the Blairwitch this weekend, like change the transmission mount, CCV parts, stop rear end from leaking gear oil, and then plugs/wires/ air filter/dist cap & rotor. That shouldn't take too long

Then its onto working on the green Jeep.

you should put your scuba gear on your air intake before driving into streams at 50mph

Yeah... still thinking about that. I figure I won't factor that in, and will have a switch to enable/disable the "locker" when needed. If this whole stupid idea doesn't work, I can just leave it disabled or pull it back out.

I actually thought a bit about doing something very similar but never thought of using an ABS modulator for it. I was going to use it since I only have a truetrac up front...

... I figured if I ever found a way to do something similar to this I would have an on/off switch like you mentioned for street driving. Then I would assume a max offroad speed when this locking thing would be needed of [insert speed here, pretty slow]. Then calculate the max speed difference during standard turning and set the threshold value for when the system applied the brakes just above that max value. So if there is only a 2-3mph max difference per tire during normal driving set that value at 4mph. That would prevent one tire from spinning up tooo fast then shocking the spiders real hard when the brakes are applied, but at the same time it would prevent the brakes from kicking in while doing normal turning.

And regarding which trails. I was thinking of doing something in the moderate to moderately hard range as I mentioned earlier to learn my rig better and work on my wheeling abilities before I hit anything real hard (I know someone else was in the same boat, i dont remember who it was though). I was looking at 6, 7, or 8; or maybe 4 if people are doing that one but not 6/7/8. I would rather get out with people I kinda know rather than a bunch of people who I don't so I would have no problem running an easier trail :dunno:

Edit: And I suppose that whether or not I get skids by then will play a large factor. Though I have no excuse for not having skids by then. Esp since I just passed my 1 year review and a 5% raise should be applied for my next pay period  Now it's time to slack off for another couple months and then start working harder when my next review comes around :rof::laugh:

Just pick the hardest trail that your jeep falls into requirement wise. I have 0 "wheeling skills". Don't care.
