Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread
So it had a tailgate but with no latch? Was is it in good condition?
well... I have the handle for the latch in my possession (I needed one.) The rest was fairly beat up but looked rust free. Want me to yank it and hide it somewhere tomorrow morning if I wake up early enough?
Deader than dead in here today.
haha, whole bunch of us were out chopping trees at RC
Tried that... the only "bar" I had one me though was my 3/8" extension. That folded over nicely :gee: When I go back next wkend I will likely bring something a bit more substantial.
Good call... but at the same time I will still need to get that nut off in order to pull the shaft, and I feel like getting that nut off when the assembly is not in an XJ (or somethign to hold it still) would be a major PITA. I think I will try and break it free next wkend but if I cannot get it off then I may end up taking that approach. Not to mention I am sure I would get charged more if I did this, rather than just taking the shaft).
My trick for those - grab a random spare, stand it upright, stick the lugs through the spare, put a couple lugnuts on finger tight to hold it, sit on spare, go to town with a big ass breaker bar and cheater bar. Mine popped right off after about 30 seconds that way.
I'd say if the hub is good and you're just looking to upgrade to the bigger u joints just pull the whole thing and slide it right into yours. You can then keep your current ones whole as trail spares that way you can just pull em if you break something and slide the spare right in with a lot less work. Idk what your plans are for them though.
X2. That's what I did.
Ah yea don't blame ya for not wanting to pay for an unknown condition part. Just to let you know the hub doesn't need to come off to replace the u joints. It takes a little bit more handling bc of the weight of the hub but no need to take it off.
Same... I was gonna swap my unit bearing over and then I pulled out my old shaft and realized there was 1/16" of play in the unit bearing, so I just threw the new shaft in whole, couldn't really be much worse.
Quick question for anyone to answer to make sure I'm understanding this brake booster/ master cylinder upgrade. Ok so obviously I am going to need the booster/mc from a 95/96. From my readings that seems most compatible (going into a 94 btw). And I am going to need 4 fittings for the lines that run to the proportioning valve. Install and bam good brakes again. Am I missing anything here. I know there might be small modifications necessary to the rod for the switch and possibly use spacers on the firewall but just want to double check bc I keep getting confused bc a majority of the writeups are for renix.
Edit. Basing majority of my assumptions on this thread here.
http://naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=63067&highlight=booster Thread also contains the part numbers for the fittings.
I think the lines on the MC are that screwy annoying bubble flare, so I'd take the booster and prop valve out as a single unit, they probably won't charge any more for that anyways. That way everything you touch is just standard double flares.
working on daily drivers sucks. my ranger has needed a tune up, a speed sensor and rear brakes for 2 years. and the positive battery cable is held on with vice grips
hahaha that's great, never seen vise grips used that way. My MJ could use about the same work (no rear brakes, 208k with unknown age plugs/cap/rotor, oil soaked air filter, speed sensor cable needs a large number of zipties so it doesn't hang on the exhaust anymore.)
Started my day of good by making $75 to do pads and one rotor on a Chebby Tahoe:thumbup: Then it was ruined by finding out your Grandmother passed away while you're at work
that sucks

sorry to hear it
Thanks guys. She's been in the hospital for a while now and it was only a matter if time before it happened. We all knew it and were ready. Last night around 11 my aunt said goodnight and she was all set and fine, then this morning her lung filled up with fluid and eventually colaped for the 3rd time. We just let nature take it's course and let her sleep. Worste is I havn't seen her since Christmas but I'd rather see her the was she was at Christmas than how she was in the hospital living via machines. Crazy old lady would kill a 30 rack and a carton of butts in a day.
Aside from the smoking/drinking, sounds like my grandfather... he passed a month or two ago. He had alzheimers and dementia, same deal, we'd been expecting it for some time and there wasn't much we could do. During one of his lucid moments he decided enough was enough, apparently, stopped eating voluntarily and just... slipped away. For some reason the fact that it was his choice made it a lot easier for me.
