THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Speaking of threads and such, anyone who is going to be regearing a d30 and needs a non-staked nut for doing the setup on the pinion, I have 8 extras... grade 8 3/4-16 UNF. A buck or a beer takes two.

(I had to buy a bag of 10 at fastenal)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i figured out my TB fiasco, ill just use the tie rod rod the blue jeep as its not selling, 1.25" 5/16wall dom shall due

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

you can get cutting/tapping fluid at Sears.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I was actually just walking around the house thinking about it and came back to ask... does the trackbar need the bend? or if I lower the frame end mount a bit can a piece of strait tube work? I don't feel like laying in the mud under my Jeep right now to check for myself. :laugh3:

And also, does anyone have the JKS (or similar) OTK 1-ton steering? If so do you have a rough idea of how long the tie rod and drag link will need to be?

i thought the UNEF for 7/8 was 20
hmmm, you might be right, but i'd be really surprised if they made their own size for TRE's... let me google.

sears can suck my left testicle. i'd rather support the little guy, even if it means spending $2 more.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

he wanted somewhere local to him...and i don't think Stoughton is local to him. I was just offering an option...

oh yeah, VW's can suck my left testicle...friggin 17mm lug bolts and 19mm drain plugs...

Stoughtons only 35 min or so from me. I consider anywhere in the 45 min range local. Not to mention stoughtons kindof on the way home from work.. 35 min from work too, so kindof local

17mm lug bolts suck, yes. But my friggen VW has an allen bold for a drain plug. BS! I still like working on it though, just as easy as a Jeep. Throw a hammer at it and it works.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i've used a hammer on more than 1 VW.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Caddy Catera takes the cake for the worst drain plug: T40.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

wow, go GM engineers.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

if you're going to use a torx for the drain plug, at least make it a big one.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I always thought "any car jiffy lube worked on" took the cake, with the drain plug being rubber, some washers, and a wingnut... but T40 is pretty bad.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

is that how they fixed every drain plug? with that stupid rubber plug?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Is a bolt (or TRE in this case) measurement taken from the inside of the thread or the outside?

I.e. if a tube had .875" ID, could that be tapped to accept the TRE or would the TRE be lose?

I ask because I figure if I do as Ross mentioned and use 1.25" OD with .281 wall I would only have 0.1875"(ish) wall at the threads. Probably plenty, but figured I would keep doing maths. The next size up that I could find is a 1.375" OD with .250 wall, which means .875" ID.

If the 1.25" DOM that Ross mentioned would still be strong enough after tapping then that sounds like the best bet to me. And I feel like I can trust that it will be strong enough. So I will probably take that route. Just figured I would mention/ask :gee:
