Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

no precipitation goin at all here currently...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

None here either, it was snowing pretty hardcore an hour or two ago though.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i don't have a window at my desk :( but i just looked outside and it's coming down pretty hard, but the flakes are tiny and light and not sticking to anything.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

anyone got good recomendations on alloys for a 30, johnny is lookin for a set to get him through the year

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I lied.

Now it's snowing really really hardcore :roflmao:

Flakes were about the size of a quarter a few minutes ago, they're down to dime size now.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

or use the shifter off a 10spd mountain bike or similar, essentially offers 10 different idle speeds. really easy to mount on the shifter ;)
Brilliant and I have about 10 damn bikes laying around my house. I'm sure I can find one of those.

wow, that's impressive. but still 5500x slower than light :-p
Light's an overachiever.

And couldn't you just use the shifter with an extra Jeep throttle cable? What's to say you need to use the shifter cable? :dunno:

As was already stated, shifter cable is much smaller... but if needed I'll just cut a throttle cable and a shifter cable down and splice the 2 together. There isn't that much resistance in the throttle; I think the shifter cable should be enough to pull it fine though. My only question is if the 10 speed shifter has enough throw to move the throttle enough to make it work (though the fact that you brought it up makes me think you have seen it done before so it must :D)

Yea, I can barely see a window (probably 50-75 meters away and blind is half way down), but looks kinda whitish outside.

I've *heard* of it being done before, and it is what I plan to do whenever I eventually get around to it. I just don't really feel a need for it, so I haven't bothered yet. Cool idea I guess, though, and for the (lack of) $$ it'd be a fun little project.

I'd go for it, it's not a critical one, your hand shifter breaking because of an undersized cable will not keep you from driving home. Moving the cable about 3/4" is a couple thousand RPM from what I recall while jumping the MJ from the XJ yesterday morning.

Agreed, unless I'm doing scientific stuff, SAE units it is. 0.1" pin spacing on most electronic components guarantees that idiots who use 2mm pin spacing headers make my life difficult when laying out a PCB.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

:soapbox::soapbox::soapbox: i just went downstairs to check to see if my neighbor dropped off some steel i forgot to grab and i found 4-5" of water in my basement and the sump pump was clogged with all the dirt that was on the floor. after i reached down 2.5 ft into ice cold water, it's now draining.

my welder and grinder were on a part of the floor that's usually dry but now had 4" of water. hopefully they're ok.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

got some rotors for the 60 and motor mounts for the 98, stock motor mounts look shitty, o well

:scared: that sucks

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Rob, who'd you buy motor mounts from?

Anthony, damn, that sucks. I really hope the welder's OK, at least you can swing the angle grinder around a bit to get water out of it then let it dry and it'll almost definitely work.

Hell, I washed my 19.2V Crapsman sawzall off in the shower after my last trip to southern NAC, it was completely covered in mud :roflmao: still works great.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

on a happier note, i just went down and checked it. the sump did everything it can, but they didn't pit it in a great spot. there's still about an inch in some places.

on a hilarious note, jenn just went to use my bathroom and found a bug so i went in and killed it and put it in the toilet (and intentionally didn't flush it down) and she popped the lid up saw it and freaked cuz she wasn't expecting it :roflmao: it was great.

I'm a big fan of shooting flies with rubber bands, or if I'm really pissed off (and well practiced) my pellet gun.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So my parents decided to corner me and try to get me to talk about houses again for 45 min when I got home from the bar. I subtly broke the news that I am bidding on a Jeep in an auction on the 12th. That didn't go over too well. At least they don't know about the MJ I currently own :eyes: If they knew that I think I would be homeless right now...

i shot at fly clean in half with one of my airsoft pistols that was about.. 5-10 meters away :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So anyone care to comment: Instead of going all out for a DSLR; how you think something like this would do?
http://www.nikonusa.com/Find-Your-Nikon/Product/Digital-Camera/26194/COOLPIX-L110.html

Edit: reading over the features I'm actually thinking that is pretty good for what I wanted in a camera. And I saw what I think was the older model (which seemed very similar) on sale in a store for $200 (mind you they were sold out; but hopefully I can get one at that price). One of the biggest negative aspects that I have seen is that it uses AA batteries. Kinda sucks, but oh well.

Edit2: or spend a bit more for something like http://www.nikonusa.com/Find-Your-Nikon/Product/Digital-Camera/26212/COOLPIX-P100.html
