So Ken, you should keep that strut in the Jeep and if we both end up in Lowell for a beer this weekend I can grab it and maybe trade them out for some weaker struts since I'm a bit closer to RI than you are? :dunno:

Sorry I actually moved some random junk out of my jeep before leaving for VT today, that was one of the few things I decided was going inside. I do have a spare transfer case and two transmissions in the back though :dunno:

YAY, I'm hoping to make a trip to PA this weekend with Rosstafarian to pick up that 30. Gonna try to make the trip in a day!

You can totally do it. I woke up at 3am sunday, was in NJ by 9am even including getting lost and having to stop and put 4.5 quarts of oil into the engine twak: owner of MJ needs to take better care of it), had pulled the engine/transmission/transfer case I bought by 2pm, cut the chassis of the junker in 3 pieces by 8pm, loaded by 9pm, home at 3am monday. And that was with a LOT of mishaps and almost everything possible going wrong... a 24 hour, 500 mile catastrophe pretty much.

EDIT: Remembered it. My "I survived cash for clunkers" sticker is a big hit with the junkyard employees

But the great thing is that I forgot/avoided putting my first paycheck this month into the bank so I have been playing the "I only have xyz much in the bank and can't spend any more this month" game... though I have 2 paychecks sitting next to me (literally) which will give my accnt a huge bump

So I don't want to be at work right now. I got a bunch of s*** I gotta get done but it's all tedious annoying work that I don't want to do.

And what really sucks is that all that work is in the labs here and they don't like us having drinks in the lab.... so I have to sit in my office/cube and have my coffee before can head into the lab to start work (and yes coffee is more important than getting work done).

i intereviewed at Bose... they're weird there. no drink or food your desk. water is iffy, too. you gotta go to the cafeteria. Dr. Bose did it back in the day to get introverted engineers to socialize... they think nothing of going to the cafeteria for 3 hours out of the day and do nothing but when it comes crunch time to get a product out they want you to work 70 hours a week. eff that.

ken, i talked to one of our IT guys about our computing cluster. it's 16 nodes with 32GB ram each. each node has dual dual core xenon 5052 processors (the # might have been 5260... can't remember now. not enough coffee...) there's also one node that has dual dual dual core (yes, that makes 8) processors and 128 GB ram.. and yes, we use it.
