THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

The more things you know and the more fields you can adapt to, the better you'll do at work. As Heinlein said...

:laugh3::conceited

(no, I can't do half these things either)

 what wms-wms length were you hoping for?

i was hopin for 69ish to match the frt

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

lacing up my party shoes (strapping the Velcro together) having some more beer, then heading out. i guess thats why they call it worcester.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

:rattle: I wanted to enter ROTM this time but I got beat by 5 minutes. I couldn't have posted pics because I'm at work anways but ughhhh. That sucks. Now my poor Jeep might never have a chance :rattle:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

im thinking about parting out both of my jeeps and finding another hobby, this 70 deal has pissed me off

noo, you can't do that! where will I bring a Jeep shell? :gee:

Seriously though. Don't waste your time getting out of Jeeps. I've thought about it a few times and I'd regret it a ton if I stopped wheeling. It's expensive with a lot of annoying setbacks but in the end they're all worth it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

im more pissed off with myself about this 70, i kinda had myself thiinking that i could toss it in without any work, well i was wrong

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I know 70s had a bunch of different variations, that's probably why your's is an odd WMS and spline count. As far as I'm concerned though, its 1.5" shafts so FIRI. Also, the 65" WMS is fine, who cares. better to have the front wider than the rear, so if you ask me you didn't make out too bad at all. Weld it and run it. You got it for next to nothing already geared, so get some D70 disc brackets, buy brakes like you planned, and don't worry about it... 14 bolts are only 30 spline, but also 1.5" shafts. So again, FIRI

If you're that pissed off about it set it aside. There are good amount of 35 spline 70s out there. Your 70 is a bit weaker in the axle shaft splines and pinion. Probably not a big deal. You also probably have .500 offset carrier when most are .625 making your gear selection a little bit harder if you decide to change it down the road(again not a big deal if you don't plan to). I would set it aside and leave it for last. If you find another sweet deal pick one up. Otherwise run it, god knows it's going to laugh at your puny 38's anyway.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Also rob how wide of an axle are you looking for? I've done some research as to widths if you need any help. A 70 is what I plan on running.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

He said he wanted 69" to match the front...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i like travis idea of just welding it up, i may just do that and clean up the insides, XXXX rebuilding shit ill convert it to disc only cuz the drums wiegh a billion pounds and are frozen

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

It's possible he has a DRW rear 70. They were a little narrower I believe. If that's the case(my memory is a little fuzzy on what there widths typicaly were) but you can put SRW hubs from a 70 or 14 bolt. I also believe rear 60 hubs are the same but not 100% or it might be the some work some don't. But I have heard the are the same/similar.

Run what you got man, deep down inside I know you don't give a shit.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Like carmelo said though, no rush dude. just do what you gotta do to mock stuff up, and keep an eye out in the meantime. If something pops up then you'll be able to consider which one you want to go with. Worry about gathering parts for now, you don't need to commit to anything yet. Get your t-case, get the rust etc taken care of, get your front 60 in, do whatever you gotta do for steering, etc etc. The 70 thing can stay on the back burner for awhile. If it comes down to it you can just run it and it's not a big deal. It's not like it's a weak axle, and like you said, you're not into it much money at all so no biggie.

Maybe the 60 ones work once bored out for 35 spline shafts? :dunno:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

thanks for the help guys, your both awsome!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

:kissyou:

...you're still takin that jeep shell, right? :)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

if your serious about it i may, will it include engine and trans?

I was gonna keep engine trans (with the pedals etc) and tcase. Plus what would you want with an AX-15? :) If you don't want it I'll cut out the floors then chop it all up most likely. Although I'm not sure if I'd have the heart to do that  better to give it away and let someone else do that.
