THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I haven't hit anything over 80 in either of my cars in over a year and a half. 75 is a good speed in good conditions on I93 for me. The last time I did 85 in my Jeep it was stock and I just got it. I wouldn't trust any Jeep other then a SRT-8 at more then 85.

yeah i wasnt being serious, if i were to do 85 on the highway id prolly get like 5 mpg's haha.

and 33's on 3.55's arent really an issue for me cuz im not a speed demon anyway. it would still be nice to regear though

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Damn Sam.

I can say I hit somewhere close to 100 in my XJ on 35s on the way back from Carlisle, PA this past year. GPS verified. My rear pinion bearings were screaming for mercy.

they're down to very little (1/16 to 1/8 tread in the center) and I was doing fine on the highway this morning at the speed of traffic, 45-50. If someone stopped dead in front of me I would have been in some deep shit, but no one else could stop quickly either and I maintained a safe following distance. They did slip a bit and I was oversteering badly on city streets, but after a turn or two I got used to it and autocorrected. My name is Ken and I am a... oh wrong forum :anon:

I've done 120 (GPS verified) in a stock XJ, but never above 80 or 90 (unsure) lifted. Disclaimer: statute of limitations is up :rtm:

(Yes, it was a really bad idea but I had to know how fast I was going at "needle is straight down" and i90 was empty, level, and straight as an arrow.)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I don't even want to see/know how fast Carsmelo has driven. His top speed is either maxed out, or 63mph.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i did like 105 in my old 90 down a hill on "the abandon highway" the thing shook like it was gonna fall apart

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Sigh, that truck would be epic, i love it. I want one.

And the fastest i went in my XJ was 110-115ish (GPS verified). On 30" tires, no lift (so it was back in 2005), fully loaded for college so it was weighted down alot. could have done better, was still accelerating when I had to slow down cause I saw cars ahead. Since lifting and tires... I think my fastest was 90 (verified). Maybe a touch over unverified, but that's on 33's and 3.07s.

And on another topic... does anyone have a set of MOPAR tow hooks sitting around? I don't need to buy them, I just need to take/get some measurements. I know the MOPAR ones have the main bracket itself which connects down the unibody, plus an L bracket and some other bracket which attaches to the bottom of the unibody IIRC (kindof a bit angled I think).

I bought tow hooks off a friend a few weeks back (as I'm sure I mentioned on here), except that the hooks themselves are lost somewhere at his parents house, and both of the support brackets (L and angle thing) are attached to the hooks :banghead: I just have the long main bracket. So I figured maybe I could weld up some support brackets myself if I had the correct measurements.

Also, I saw the rusty's brackets dont even use the two additional tie in points, they just bolt on where the stock bumper does plus one point further back... something about that doesn't seem too reliable, but if they are OK, can I just not use the bottom/front brackets that came with the MOPAR kit and only use the long main support? I feel like that may be comparable to what Rusty's is selling :dunno: Are the brackets just provided with the MOPAR kit for even better support or are they needed with the MOPAR but not with the rusty's for some reason?

There is the bracket (which goes around a couple of the bolts that most aftermarket bumpers also use), the angle thing (which goes from the bottom of it to the bottom of the frame rail) and the L bracket thing, which goes from the side of the frame rail to the front of the crossmember under the radiator. I can't really describe it much better than that.

This must be a reference to a movie I haven't seen yet :dunno:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

haha no, not a movie. just seems that guys who work on computers have short, easy names. not bashing your name of course, i mean mines Ryan.

Thanks. those are exactly the brackets I am talking about.. I just dont have them and want the measurements in order to try and make my own. Or I want to know if the brackets are even necessary since rusty's kit seems to do without them. Mind you I don't want to consider rusty's as "setting any standards" here... just curious. This is all rusty's has:
http://www.rustysoffroad.com/instructions/RR-TH11-XJ.pdf

Or if someone has an extra set of the brackets laying around to sell, that's cool too. Or if someone has the measurements and is good with fabbing stuff up I would be willing to buy them :D Like I said

I have
:
-There is the bracket (which goes around a couple of the bolts that most aftermarket bumpers also use)

I need:
-the angle thing (which goes from the bottom of it to the bottom of the frame rail)
-the L bracket thing, which goes from the side of the frame rail to the front of the crossmember under the radiator

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Do you want me to go outside with a ruler for you? :D
OK... stop bothering me about it, I did. :D

The snow just stopped here and the rain started. Before it starts to settle, here's what we got (taken from the center of my driveway, so no wind blown snow, no plow work, completely undisturbed):

SnowFall_12_09_09.jpg

Now off to snowblow this junk off my driveway. :)
