SWEET!

I bet those would do the trick.

For reference, I found a comparison of a D80 pinion (left) vs a 14B pinion (right) :D

took black jeep out nice and early this morning before the plows had gotten almost any of the roads :D fun stuff. it was fun watchin one of the town cops try and keep a cruiser goin straight, the posi kept kicking his ass. i gave the jeep a blurp and hit some snow, he laughed and smiled at my superior snow traveling abilities.

:roflmao: I remember once out in Springfield (in front of my college) a cop was trying to accelerate up a VERY slight hill from the stop light. I raced him... I was walking... I won :D.

Another time the same thing happened and I was in the Jeep. I pulled away w/ no issue (in 2wd) and he was still there when I pulled into my college a bit down the road.. he hadn't moved yet. I realized how much of a dick I could be and get away with anything, just because the cops couldn't catch me that day  but then I didn't take advantage of that and went to get snowed in at the bar instead

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

^ the worcester cops seem to know how to drive in snow, but the rest of worcester doesn't

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Haha, thats pretty funny. The cops in my town know my big jeep and the fun i like to have. If i see any of them stuck, ill lend a strap and give them a tug free. i like to think i do a good service:D often times during big snow storms, ill jsut cruise around and help people i see stuck. spin the tires here and there and knock down and big piles in the middle of the roads too.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That reminds me, I gotta hit up HF or HD on the way home and get some straps, I don't think my ten dollar ghetto rope is gonna pass safety inspection anywhere :D

I pulled a *lot* of hondas out of snowbanks last winter with a piece of rope tied around my shackle.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Most people in my town know how to drive in the snow pretty well. One time last year i was doing like 40-45 down a small back road with a full line of cars doing the same in an inch or 2 of slush/snow on the road. No one had any issues at all.

It was pretty amusing since I had literally just got back from VA where I got stares like I was a lunatic when I went for a drive when we had.. flurries.. :roflmao: (not saying all VA drivers are this bad... but the ones around me in Alexandria were

I moved back from VA early in January. If anyone remembers NE getting a bit of a snow storm in early to mid January '09, I was driving home from VA in the middle of that storm. I was in the altima, my father was in a box truck behind me. I got onto Rt 495S since we took the long way home in order to stay on main roads (rather than back roads which I normally took). Once on 495 I got a call from my father saying "as much as you are having fun in the snow again, you should really slow down a bit. don't want you showing up at home too much earlier than me, might get your mother asking questions" or something along those lines, apparently I had got like a half mile ahead of him pretty quick. The only people on the road were me and him, and even he was doing 60+ in the box truck. Eventually we caught up to some plows and had to slow down, ruined my night :( The next day I just found all the roads that my town was too lazy to plow often and drove around in the snow. Now I have Jeep back and it should be even better!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i thought i had felt odd thing there was to feel in a jeep. until i drove the girlfriend's jk and esp kicked in on the highway.

I'm sorry but that is just plain stupid. Driving in the snow is one thing, but driving fast is just plain outright dumb.
Don't get me wrong, I don't like the lowered imports that drive at 5mph either, but 40-45 or 60+ is ... I'm at a loss of words at how dumb it is.

x2.

Seeing people doing 60 mph during a heavy snowstorm gets me thoroughly pissed off.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

What if your tires are going 60 mph, but vehicle speed is only 10-20 mph?:D

I do this sometimes in empty parking lots. Lots o fun :D

I have to baby the clutch in the CTD to get any kind of traction in 2wd in the snow. I don't know how Justin drove in the snow with 2x the torque.

Well as I mentioned we were doing 60+ and caught up to plows pretty quick... so the road was relatively clear. Yes it was in the storm and I was having fun, but it wasn't like we were doing 60 through 4+ inches of snow. And while it still may not have been the best idea... we had been on the road for 8 hours at that point and just wanted to get home, since we had a clear highway ahead of us we made the best time possible.

And the 40-45... yeah, I agree, looking back it wasn't the smartest idea... but oh well, what's past is past. I probably wouldnt do it again, I have actually slowed down my driving habits considerably this past summer. not sure why but I have. I think last winter/spring I drove "fast" more often to vent my stress of being unemployed. Not a good way to vent (and not trying to make excuses), just saying. I tend to drive to relax myself, sometimes it gets to me, esp if i get with someone else driving in a "spirited" manner...

I tend to keep my speed to whatever the police or truckers are doing, whoever is going slower. I think this morning was probably the first time in eight months I've not gone over 50 for my entire commute. If I start to feel any sliding at all I coast till it stops... one guardrail was enough for me.

EDIT: I was surprised by how well bald MTs did in this mess. I figured I'd be sliding all over the place and would end up backing out and going home, luckily I had almost no problems at all.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

the snow up here sucks. i woke up this morning expecting to have some fun out there and it was terrible. just slush. i hate when the rain comes and makes the snow all slushy, what a waist of a storm

x2, I think I topped out at 45 on 495 today. I cant decide if I want it to keep snowing (so it's a slow ride home) or if I want it to stop snowing (so its a quicker ride home).

I think if the choices were rain or snow, I would pick snow :) Sadly, doesn't sound like that will be the case :(
