Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Anyone know what a full d30 weighs? I can't find it via google for some reason.
a fully assembled D30 (gears, carrier, shafts, brakes, steering, etc) is almost too much for one person to carry. that being said, it can be done but tends to suck. if it is just an axle with shafts and no brakes or steering it's not unbearable.

Can one person pick up a Dana 30?

1 person, probably not.

1 Ross, most definitely.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I can pick up and carry 200 without issue (if it's not some huge ungainly thing I can't wrap my arms around or get my hands on very well)... a bit more than that I probably can deal with once in a while.

As for my transmission, travis you're just jealous :p

I just necromanced an AW4 overheating/screwed clutches thread in OEM tech, hopefully one of the resident magicians (read: anyone who knows more than me about transmissions (read: anyone)) will tell me what's up.

yeah it's just awkward. i can carry 200 easily as well. there's not a good way to hold it or anything and it hurts like hell to get it up on your shoulder. ask me how i know.

whatever dude, my ax15 has gone to hell and back and is still tickin. drove it for 4 months with no clutch, and have wheeled the piss out of it for years, the fluid has been flushed once since i've had it, and never has it tried to push me into an intersection....keep your silly aw4, jealousy is not what i'm feeling haha

on another note though, sorry to hear about your woes and hope you get em worked out

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

yeah everything below the floorboards is pretty much made of rust :( Sam's only wants a hundred bucks for a new axle though, so I'm pretty sure I will be picking one up this Saturday (I'd just replace the coil mounts but it'll take longer, I'm not sure my welder is up to the task, and coil mounts will cost more than the whole new axle.) Anyone know what a full d30 weighs? I can't find it via google for some reason.

im not a huge guy by any stretch but i moved my fully assembled d30 with .25wall 1.5"DOM steering and WJ brakes from the bench doen to under the jeep and back twice, its a lil ungainly but wear gloves and u can get a decent grip

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

my ax-15 has less than half the fluid it's supposed to have. and 3/4 of the fluid it has is 30wt oil. it makes noise but hey, it still goes into gear. and i have 2 others as spare for rebuild.
