Now that I have the intake and header off, what would you say would be the best way to:
1) clean out the ports?
2) have it so that water/anything doesn't get in? (I won't be putting the new header/intake back on until I've cleaned the intake, and replace the motor mounts I just ordered.
i wish i was good enough to have confidence in my own welding for this. i need more practice. you put some of your own wire in there then welded or just turned the feed rate up?
If you want to know if its cast steel or iron glance it with a hammer, if it sparks its steel not iron.
those aren't happening till i get alloys. i was just thinking way ahead, but thanksAnthony - dont forget to factor in a couple dollars for full clips too.
thanks for the offer, but i'm taking a day trip up to bill's place and he said he'd do it if i did the prep work. no big surprise, even i know welding is the best part. prep/post work sucks. going to take care of my axle-side TB bracket, the go-fer-it inserts, and my track bar all at once too.I just had the welder cranked up and filled some of the voids in the cast. It wasnt hard to do, but i would say a 220 unit is a must. even with a 110 unit it would have to be maxed out and i feel it might not be enough to really lay it in there like i did. If you want, bring them by and I'll give ya a hand.
Its up to you guys... but if you want get me a dimension within a few inches and I'll cut a length and give it to Ross when he picks up his/Colin's/Mark's tubing from my place later this week.hey ross... so how do you feel about me coming down and burning a few other pieces home for me?
edit: hmmm... just realized logistics: bill has the tubing i need for my track bar.
