Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread
I bought the MSD because the previous owner of my rig used it and had no problems for at least 2 yrs. You could go with what alot of people use which is an E2000 pump(basically a stock pump from a 89 F150 and others) its about the same price but its rated at 90 psi. As far as the lines, he can use his stock stuff to the back including the filter. Use 45 degree -8AN fittings on the cell with 5/16 barb fittings connected with fuel injection hose to pump and lines and he's done. If you want to spend more you can use steel braided hose for protection. I actually just plumbed a CJ with XJ lines to connect to his cell because we swapped in a 4.0. One thing you want to do is keep the pump lower then the tank and not too many connection so you dont get vapor lock or run the pump dry. I have actually seen guys use hose from the rail to the tank and it worked.
Right, without a regulator you can cut down on the fittings, but you'll still need to plumb a line all the way back to the cell. Depending on the hose you chose that in itself is pricey.
Look for yourself, do some searching (not just on here, try the PBB and Google). Summit also has the same pump, just relabeled with their own name for a few bucks cheaper.
Something to also consider, I didn't want a pump that was already on its maximum rated PSI (MSD states 40psi, you need ~39psi) just to feed the engine. Might not be a big deal, maybe I am over thinking it but it just seemed not right to me.
