THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Oh noes! I just got suckered into looking at a mystery Subaru tomorrow. It looks to be left for dead in someone's yard. I hope this doesn't turn out to be the same way I got my XJ.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Also, Carmelo was kind enough to go to Bump's house this morning then bring me the fuel cell and 4 31s I can use to try getting an inspection on Saturday!

You forget to mention I gave you quite a lesson on automotive electronics that you can apply to any vehicle. I took a jeep with 3 blinkers that didn't blink to a jeep with 4 blinkers that blinked.

...and you're not going to mention that you have a trackbar bracket now?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

hell yeah summit FTW! what you got with for a cat
Summit FTW, X3!
Among a few things I ordered from them about an hour ago, I already have tracking for this:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Bill why did you go with that pump as opposed to this one?

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MSD-2225/

I think for OBD I i need about 40 psi and this MSD pump is cheaper than the one you ordered. Any certain reason? Or do the later model-year Jeeps need higher fuel pressure?? Did you order fittings etc as well? I need to figure out what I'll need for all those shenanigans and then put together and order there for myself...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So i managed to once again be the friend who knows cars / jeeps, since my friend's cherokee managed to have a brake hardline bust free and squirt fluid everywhere when the pedal was stepped on. i roll up with a flashlight to hte parking lot he limped to, we poke around for a few and find the leak thanks for a rusty line. figures the thing is damn near rust free otherwise though... oh well. i had AAA tow his junk to his dad's dealership in Acton where someone will fix it, since i'm not touching hardlines!

Hardlines aren't bad at all, you just have to make sure you replace all the sections that are rusted....

I looked into that pump, I avoided it mainly because I did research on that MSD unit and it didn't get the greatest reviews as far as longevity. SummitRacing price matched the Mallory 4060FI pump I got, so it really wasn't all that much more than the one you listed anyway. Plus it'll compliment my Mallory 4305M regulator nicely.
OBDII XJs require 49psi, older ones are 32-39psi.
Fittings? All I'll say on the subject is AN fittings are blasted expensive.
Once the stuff arrives, I'll have everything to feed the engine now however.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah they certainly seem like they're gonna add up quick. I'm just kind of lost as to what exactly I'll need. I'm sure Scott can help me out if nothing else, though. I'd love to be able to get everything and have it in by the 9th but I doubt that'll happen. And, I thought the pressure is regulated at the fuel rail? Do I need to get a different regulator when setting all of this up? Or is that only needed when using a pump with (for example) 70psi, to bring it down to the 32-39 range I need? This stuff's interesting, but I think I might have opened a can of worms... Nothin new :gee:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Bills got a obd2 xj which the reg is part of the intank pump, so he'll need to set his reg for 49 psi. The obd1 which runs @ 32-39 will reg the pump off the rail no matter the pump. You won't need that many fittings so it shouldn't be too expensive.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

badass  How about the pump? As far as Bill's research showing the MSD's tendancy to fail sooner than the Mallory he got?

I would've just bent it over itself and sent him on his way to get it fixed.Drove my Ranger like that for 50 miles home one time on a date.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

^^ apparently easier said than done in mark's case :D

Right, without a regulator you can cut down on the fittings, but you'll still need to plumb a line all the way back to the cell. Depending on the hose you chose that in itself is pricey.

Look for yourself, do some searching (not just on here, try the PBB and Google). Summit also has the same pump, just relabeled with their own name for a few bucks cheaper.
Something to also consider, I didn't want a pump that was already on its maximum rated PSI (MSD states 40psi, you need ~39psi) just to feed the engine. Might not be a big deal, maybe I am over thinking it but it just seemed not right to me.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah, I've done some searching around, just difficult to make heads or tails of some of it. I'm forging ahead though!!

Is there a reason you need the cell?
After what I spent (not really happy about it either), if I wasn't forced to run one due to space restrictions, I'd just relocate the stock stuff.

Oh, SummitRacing FTW, X4 (yes, I know I already did X3). Most of my stuff shipped this morning and should be here Friday. Ordered after 9pm last night and it was on a truck at 5:04am this morning heading to me. That's just plain nuts.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I want to work on my Honcho something fierce right now. I need money...

:gee:
hahaha so true. I replaced my front-to-back hardline after it blew up and introduced me to a guardrail, then a week later the left section on my rear axle blew up in my driveway and I replaced it. While doing my lift I dropped a wrench and blew up the right rear line on the axle. At that point I just said screw it and replaced every single piece of rusty line I could find as well as the rubber lines. I think I could form hardline and bleed my brakes in my sleep these days.

I was just replaying that scene in my head, man that sucked. At least watching the drunk people was fun.

I have had 2 different vehicles blow a hardline due to rust within a month of each other. I then cut out the blown section, and spliced in new line. Both vehicles then blew the same line that was just repaired at a different point when starting the bleeding process.
Ross knows what I'm talking about, the first repair happened at his house.
