Can't go today :(

Maybe Friday...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Finally back from the honeymoon. What an awesome time.

So much good food, relaxing, clay shooting, kayaking, and just enjoying the view of the mountains.

Still have the rest of the week off. Back to reality come Monday. At least for a week before we get to party again.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Glad you guys had a good time!
Enjoy the next few days 'cause reality comes screaming back to you like a freight train come Monday.

is it cracked already? I'd at least recommend a plate on the inside face

It isn't cracked yet. I was planing on building a brace then playing the unibody down the road.

If it's cracked, you need to plate it. A brace will do no good

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

"it is cracked yet" :wierd:

That doesn't really answer the question...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

fixed what? you fixed nothing.

this is how i fixed my crack:

so i actually did stuff yesterday.

last week i noticed this:

so i preemptively spent my tax return on PSC hydro assist. but first, had to address my cracking issue...

cleaned it all up, cut off the outer parts that were completely cracked off, found a very small crack in the inside part of the rail

made a plate for the inner rail

i even reused my factory aluminum spacer, which was good enough to not break when my frame cracked around it. my only issue was that the PSC pump was fully threaded in the center hole, so i only used two bolts to mount it. i couldnt get the factory long ass bolt to thread into the pump correctly so i left it out so i wouldnt break it. the ram was on backorder so that will get mounted when i get it. steering feels GREAT its so nice to not have to turn the wheel 10 degrees before anything happens. it feels heavy without the ram but doesnt feel like its struggling at all. cant wait to get the ram on there.

if it is cracked bad, it is my experience that it will crack again unless you get assist... even if you weld it up correctly.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

you fix it like this.

it was rolled with asphalt marks on the roof. So this thing saw the road like that. I didn't get your fuel level sender ken. It was all siliconed nasty in and a pocket knife wasn't getting it. I need to go back with an xacto knife so I can get it off.

I fixed my post. My unibody isn't cracked. I am trying to prevent it but I doubt between doing my trucks torque converter and oil pan I will be able to find time to plate the unibody. I can whip up a nice brace at work in under a half hour. Should I look into assist? I really don't feel I need it for at the moment.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

A mutual friend of mine and my sorta-ex's (not even really sure that counted) just got burned by her too.

Apparently she has now been through 2 (perhaps 3?) dudes, quit both her jobs, moved a state away, and burned bridges with at least two mutual friends since then. One of whom she was planning on living with in NC while she job hunted down there, because she decided she wanted to live in NC instead of CT/MA/NH for approximately no reason right before splitting.

I didn't dodge a bullet I dodged a freaking nuclear bomb

you fix it like this.

Thanks for checking, but if the rest of the truck looks like that I'm afraid to see how much rust is on the sender. Yikes.

If it's in good shape, I still want it.

Hey pics of when Adam was cool, but I must ask why go through all that effort plating and repairing only to reuse the shitty stock bolts and spacer?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

The stock bolts are grade 8 (as I recall) and have an extra thick head, nothing wrong with reusing them if they are in good shape.

Shitty spacer... yeah I don't get that at all.

There also a few bucks at the hardware store, but you guys love fixing stupid shit on the trail

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I've literally never broken a steering box bolt, except that time I got t-boned by an 89 grand marquis 2 blocks from home. I do put in new bolts when the old ones have any pitting on the shank.
