Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread
I really want it so I can build one for my truck but I'm too lazy to pull it. Standard Gear & Transmission is running a killer special on rebuild kits and some of their other nv4500 parts too.
What's your budget? I can pull some strings with the scrap yard we go to for work. My boss says they owe him a favor and I could probably get them to track down a LS version. It wouldn't be dirt cheap, but I'm sure it would be a reasonable price.
I might be down for an Everett's run on Saturday.
Alright I believe my plan is get rid of the Briarwood, get rid of the '01 XJ, and get my dad's TJ.
The 3 speed auto is running on borrowed time. When it comes time for a swap, AX-15 (Jay is selling one now) or NV -blahblah(the 6 speed, usually more expensive)?
You're talking about the NSG370, that's the 6 speed. It will bolt up to an XJ (some will, iirc the bellhousings are cast into the housing and are different for the 2.4L 4 cyl) but I seem to recall the crank sensor being a different mounting style and at like 10 oclock on the bellhousing instead of 1-2 oclock.
Options:
AX15 - internal slave, external slave, TJ/YJ tailhousing, XJ/MJ/ZJ/AN tailhousing. The only difference is the clocking of the bolt pattern for the transfer case and the input bearing retainer + pilot tip diameter etc.
NV3550 - TJs, XJs, AN chassis. AN chassis ones are like XJ ones, TJ ones I think have the tailhousing clocked differently again. They're rated for the same input torque as an AX15 anyways, and command a premium price because everyone thinks they are stronger.
NSG370 - 6 speed, I don't know which ones fit or how, someone else can answer that one.
You could put an AW4 in too, people do that, but **** automatics.
