THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

The difference is FOA customer service doesn't blow lol. I know fox is the cool thing to do, but yea... $$$.

Know what else sucks? Needing customer service. :)

They were always great about getting me stuff...I just got tired of needing stuff. Supposedly they redesigned everything and got rid of the big Acme thread and look a lot nicer.

With an investment like that...remember it's not just the initial outlay of $$, it's trusting that investment to make all the other $$$$ you'll put into the rig (both in parts and wheeling trips) worthwhile.

For a savings of maybe a few hundred bucks now, I don't know that I'd want that nagging uncertainty that the next trip to Rausch that costs that same hundred bucks might be ruined by a bum shock the first time you try to do something cool.

Losing a coilover is a much bigger deal than losing a standalone shock that still has a spring next to it. ;) If you blow the reservoir cap off, you're ****ed for driving home unless you want to plan on rebuilding the entire shock when you get back.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Pat I'm going to get the tires tomorrow if you wanted to give your aunt a heads up. I have to swing by our facility in Sudbury so I'll grab them around 2:30ish.

Ok dad, thanks! If she's not there just leave the check on the front seat of her truck, the black F350.

and I completely agree about the customer service part.

and you suck for mentioning what could potentially happen.

32 spline np241. 6 bolt.

A 99-06 Chevy nv4500 would be the most ideal. Think Adam would notice If i put an ancient 4 speed in his truck?

Hey, where's 5th gear!?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I can't wait for carmelo to make fun of me for going back and quoting posts that are old news. I just saw them so.

It ruins all the fun to go 10 feet every hour and only wheel one trail a day. Is a huge Jeep on one tons and 40's cool? **** yeah, no one can argue that. Is it even remotely practical, especially for Stefan who is out of work, getting married, looking to buy a house and lives 3+ hours away from wheeling that's worth it? Nope, no way, no matter how you try to spin it. I have to agree with what Mark said the other day, some things are more important, and when it's time to move on, it's time to move on.
This is very true.

Is it practical? Hell no. The only person that has done anything practical is Mark with his Honda. I challenge you to find the fun in that. Thankfully Mark has other hobbies like diving he can get into.
Living life practically doesn't lend one the most fun.
The Honda was a bit of a necessity, I needed reliable transportation now that I was working full time. It was just getting to be too much of a burden and strain driving ~140 miles to work on a 22 year old Jeep that was in constant need of attention.

Challenge accepted and won. I would actually take the Honda over a Jeep any day now (I've been switching back and forth between the XJ and the Honda, and this is exactly how I feel).

It has the 3.5L V6 (the same one in the S2000 and its 3.0L predecessor is in the Acura NSX), so it has some balls to it. I know its not a Ferrari, but it has about 10x more power than anything I've driven, and it is so much fun rowing through the gears in the 6 speed around the streets. I definitely use the power of the car daily as well as the improved handling. I can enjoy the benefits of the Honda more often than I can the benefits of a lifted Jeep. I'm happy with it.

I've quite enjoyed diving so far, I also have shooting, photography, snowboarding (that turned out well for me this year) and others for hobbies. Diving is cool because its exploring a different world, and its easy to kill yourself, I've almost seen it happen.

I just got too burnt out on Jeeps, it was becoming a source of frustration that was outweighing the time or two I took it out a year, it was not giving me any pleasure anymore.

Mark better be coming out at least once so we don't forget what he looks like
I'll come out sometime. It helps if I'm invited though (and not NACFest the weekend before like last year when I already have plans). I'll see you guys at Colin's soon though.

On a lighter note Rob: your old green XJ has death wobble. Im driving it until the fuel pump for my truck arrives.

It was the ignition switch actuator.

Tom has been doing burnouts and flogging the hell out of the thing for about a month now. Still drives on the highway mint. The rear end doesn't even make noise.
Hmm, I spent one day looking into it, and I plugged in my entire column from my green Jeep. I must have had too much stuff disconnected elsewhere.

Glad he got it running.

Can you ask him about that pigtail for the extended idle from the dash I gave him?

When did you buy that? I thought Mark had it?
Nope, sold it back in like October/December to a guy that Dundy and Jeff know. Tom.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

jeeps suck! just kidding, if i wheeled more i would have kept mine. too many other hobbies that are cheaper easier and more fun for me. 20 bucks of fuel in the boat, 6 bucks in bait, and a 15 min ride gives me 8 hours of fun. nothing better then backing your boat in at the ass crack of dawn on a hot summer day with a couple cold ones and a lunch packed:-)

I'm tired already and it's only 7. I was up at 3 for work 4-6:30 then school and after that work from 2-5 yay. At least the morning was double time.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I don't expect everyone to understand why I built my MJ. To most people it would be a waste for them, and I agree.

But to me, wheeling/racing is a lifestyle not just a hobby. You either love it, or just dabble in it. If you just dabble in it, it's stupid to build something that costs thousands upon thousands of dollars.

I've busted ass for weeks in a row on the MJ, trailered it the 7 hours down to Line Mtn totally alone, only knowing Chris, so I could go race it for 2 hours. I've been hooked ever since and if I had the cash this year I'd be racing at every event. I loved every minute of it and can't wait until I can get down there again.

Also, I consider NACfest/Rocktoberfest/Fall Crawl my vacations for the year. Sure I've gone other places and loved it as well, but those three events are planned events every year. I'll be there with or without a jeep/buggy every year.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I also set myself up financially when I first got my job so that way I'd be in a better place later on down the road.

I get paid pretty well, took advantage of getting a masters for free, paid off my student loans and my truck, and didn't get into any other debt before we bought our house.

So I definitely understand why people would need to part out/get rid of their jeep. If you don't have the money, you don't have the money. I'm not oblivious to that.

Question if the tie rod is 6 inches longer than the track bar but the angles are the same will I have bad bump steer?

S2000's never came with a V6 bruh, either 2.0 or 2.2 four banger.

This. Even if they are the only times I wheel.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I don't get how one bad day at rocktoberfest people think all the one ton rigs don't cover much ground. I've had many times this year and last where ever covered a lot of ground there. Can't include a group that doesn't know when to let off or pull cable. Also there was a reason we were all pulling cable up Pete's pass, ask Bill

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My dad just called me. apparently I drove over my brand new camera this morning when I left for work. He called me to tell me he found what was left of it

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I love it. I told you not to waste your money on that camera!!!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Also, I hope you at least rolled some coal over the camera. No sense crushing one if you're just going to look like a pussy doing it.
