THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So I was going to make some corn dogs and I turn my gas oven on and I guess it didn't light. So I open it up 2min later and it ignites and explodes in my face burning off about 1/8th of my beard and some of the hair off my head.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

This is probably going to be a nerdy post. I'm trying to finalize the steering for the new rig. It's a mind****.

I have 4 components that rotate (two knuckles, pitman arm, idler arm), in 3 different planes, 2 of the arcs oppose each other, one of those planes is perpendicular to the others, and I'm trying to find the happy medium where everything plays nice but I don't cheat myself out of too much steering angle.

Problem is everything works great for the middle ~75% of steering range. Once all the arcs start really diverging from each other shit goes weird in a hurry. (the rate of angular change between the tangential force vectors increases exponentially :D )

Part of me wants to draw it up on graph paper, bust out a compass, and start plotting arcs and intersection points.

The part of me that's actually gonna do the work, is probably just gonna get back to it tomorrow and just keep adjusting crap until it all kinda reaches a good compromise.

Probably a good thing to not have it steer all the way to the stops on the knuckles as well, because then if there's a little bit of bumpsteer at the extremities, the steering won't act as the limiting point and make the steering wheel go nuts.

Fun :)

edit: and that's not even including the hydro assist ram, which I haven't looked at yet, which will add a (mostly) linear component to this whole mess...

edit2: the newest Black Sabbath album kicks ass btw. That'll be in my garage stereo for a while.

That's my point. Who else drifts a 3500 drw screaming torq monster. NO ONE!

But I really felt like a driving god how well and controlled I caught and brought the truck back. Then I realized it has traction control and that probably did most of the work.

Bitches drift a 3500 DRW, men drift a 3500 DRW with a trailer. BITCH!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I slept not very much last night, so I decided to come into work for a while, an hour earlier than I usually show up during the week. God what an exciting person I am!

This is all you need to know about roadkill

I don't think you can be a gearhead and hate this show.

That elco engine swap one makes me remember nacfest 2010 fondly. Good thing it was the flexplate bolts or that would have been me, except on the side of i84 :laugh2:

LOL I've seen every episode, I'm pretty sure I told Colin about it when we were suppose to be working instead we were youtubing. Those guys have the greatest job ever, the Jeep ratrod and the minitruck are my two favorites. Lucky SOB's

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah no kidding, I am extremely jealous of their job.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Finally found out what the intermittent buzzing noise is that I kept hearing from my basement.

The motor on the condensate pump for my NG furnace locked up solid. It kept trying to run because the condensate tank was full, and would sit there making noise while not turning, then the thermal overload would finally kick in and shut it down for a while. Repeat ad infinitum while the condensate backs up to the trap on the furnace and slowly overflows and makes a puddle on the ground.

I broke off the grille over the cooling fan on the motor and tried to spin it by hand, and it moved a little, but something's definitely shot. $40 later I'll have a new one on my doorstep Monday thanks to Amazon. :)

Back to the garage I go to lose myself in steering geometry for a while.

I just had dinner at Applebee's and I now feel like shit. ****ing lame.

Just gotta keep the drag link and track bar parallel and equal length

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My neighbor is a bad influence.

He got a '74 Dodge W200 shitbox plowtruck yesterday, and as I was shutting down for the night after that last post, I happened to look outside and see his garage lights on. Opened my door and heard him and a few other guys bullshittin around trying to get it to run right. (this is at 2 AM)

Well...it's 6 AM now and we got that ****er running great now. :D 318 with a 2-barrel Carter carb and a shitty choke...

I think I did good with this new place :) guess I'll go to bed now...
