I know lots of people with 4.7 problems and they're very costly to fix. good engine until they break, and then too much $$ to fix so most junk them.

any of you clowns have any experience with v8's in grand cherokees? specifically the 4.7. i'm looking at picking up a grand cherokee and cant decide between the 6 or 8. mainly worried about the mpg difference and reliability.

don't do it.

4.7 issues:
oiling on rear cylinders iirc
valve seats like to drop out of the heads and munch up a piston/cylinder bore because they're alloy heads and (obviously) hardened steel seats, and chryco didn't put enough of a pressfit diameter difference on them. Alloy expands way faster than steel when it gets hot, so they fall out occasionally.
as I recall there are issues with the timing setup too but I'm not sure, that might be more of an issue when finding a replacement motor, there are some weird year splits that affect cam sensor drive wheels and stuff

The 5.2/5.9 aren't perfect by any stretch of the imagination either, but at least they seem to just keep going and going and going even with a pooped out plenum gasket and cracks in the heads/valve seats.

Ugh. I forgot i was out of .270 rounds. And now they are sold out every where. I guess i hunting with the slug gun.

I'd kill for a rifle season in MA. I had a big doe being followed by a 8+ point buck at 75 yards. I didn't trust myself to hit them with the bow at that distance. Could have gotten them with the slug gun, but not shotgun season until Dec.

Ohio needs a rifle season too. Lots of guys go to WV or MI to hunt but I don't see a point in traveling that far just to use a rifle. I just sold my brother my crossbow so I'll be waiting for gun season in dec.

just spent 30 min on the phone with the MTD office trying to find a stupid sparkplug wire part number for a shitty pushmower we have.......three different people couldn't find it and all of them asked me who made the engine, I told them they should know since it's their company, I was finally advised to call "Advanced Tech" for a solution

The good thing about not having a wheelable jeep is that I got a ton of pics/videos from todays run.

The bad thing is that I wheeled it anyways and as such my gas tank required some redneck ingenuity to make it home.

Probably going to need a cast iron 5th gear housing for the NV4500 in my truck. I think this one is cracked as well. Figures. Also need to rebuild the front driveshaft I believe as it chirps when I'm in 4WD. Oh well, 200k miles on this stuff isn't bad.

Also found a house we're going to pursue. 2 acres, set back, built in '76, in Amherst NH. Just waiting on the realtor to get us some more info (bills, property disclosure, etc.).

I should have a cast iron case for you Colin. I found a guy that wants to trade me his iron piece for my alum piece. I'm already ordering a new one for mine.
