THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Look at Lucas with his rig. He basically finished in time to bring it out there and fine tune the suspension.

I know some people that did the line mntn race and said it was a blast. I wouldn't mind building something just to race in something like that. KOH is something I would love to do but not realistic.
Lucas is a machine. I've never met the guy, but I'm not worthy.

Big thing with racing out there for people from here is the different climate and terrain. Just like people I've met from out west that came out here and wheeled after a slight downpour and were like what the F.
It's funny you mention that. I grew up thinking that was the norm. It rains, and everything in the woods is instantly teflon.

Yeah KOH would be fun, but not realistic for me either.

As much as I love the sport, I can't imagine dropping $100k all dedicated towards it. Building the buggy, towing it out there, paying for the race and everything associated with it, fixing the buggy, paying for tuning sessions, etc.

I'll stick with my dumb trail rig and keep telling myself it's a race car
The thing keeping me from getting back into it (aside from putting my $ into other things :shhh:) is trying to decide how big I want to go. When I started out, it seemed like bigger = better. No offense Colin, your MJ is cool as hell, but that would be a waste for me. The truck/trailer is super practical to have anyway, but it's not something I feel like I could justify buying to be dedicated to wheeling. I guess I don't know where the happy medium is between how hard the trails I want to drive are and how much $ I would need to sink into it.

I've never actually met him. Just saw him out wheeling once.

I think he machined Carmelo's high steer arms for him once or something.

My MJ would be a waste for a LOT of people so no offense taken. The only reason I went as big as I did is because it's A.) My only hobby so I can afford to and B.) Wheeling is a lifestyle for me. I love everything about it. I literally can't wait to get out on the trail again, how to make my MJ better, shooting the shit with friends, etc.

I honestly think you'd be perfectly happy on 33s/35s locked/locked on either built stock axles or D44s. Something like what my XJ used to be. I could literally drive it to the trail comfortably, wheel some pretty tough trails, and then drive home without worrying about it. You could do a TON of trails in New England (and even Rausch) with that setup. Want to see some harder trails? Just hop in with someone. Who cares. I love wheeling even if it is riding with someone else.

Some maintenence to it every now and then and you'd be fine. Spend some money here and there on small stuff if you want (onboard air, better seats, radio, exhaust, etc.) after putting down the initial investment (suspension, axles, armor).

I'd LOVE to see you get back into it :kissyou:

thats what i did with the YJ and would have done with the xj if i wasnt sick of trying to pass inspection and scared of my own handy work

in other new my brother got rear ended yesterday in his xj (black '00). from the sounds of what he was telling me is that he got hit high in the rear hatch and busted the hatch blew out the glass and a tail light. depending on what the insurance agent says there may be another slightly beat up xj coming up to be transformed into a trail rig

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

As much as I love doing all the "big investment" type stuff (drivetrain, suspension, axles, etc.), I love doing all the stupid shit even more.

Like adding the dash. It's one of those easy things to do that gives instant gratification. Or adding t-case shifters, adding cupholders, cooler tie downs, etc.

Just makes wheeling that much more enjoyable.

I like leaving my projects outside to rust and just showing up to events to talk shit. To each their own:dunno:

its been in new england it life but not supper bad. (no where near what mine was like when my bro crashed that one). there is rust bubbling up under the driver rear bumper cap but with in the area you would normaily do the cut and fold, rockers are good. i have nto crawled under there in probably 3 years but i recall the underside is very good for its age in ne

the motor is on the way out though, 190k adn the oil pressure is almost 0 at idle

it happened yesterday but putting out feelers for a new home if that comes to be

A man's truck doesn't necessarily have to be so dilapidated.

I hope it snows like a mother on Friday. I want to not go to work and go snow shoeing.
