THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I still think we could've fixed it with some butt splices and electrical tape.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

so, anyone heard from chris lately? I texted him yesterday and haven't heard back from him, and he hasn't been on here since sunday...hope his phone didn't get washed away? :dunno:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I don't even see anything wrong :dunno:

me either, but he insisted the smoke wasn't an electronic blow off valve, so to pacify him I offered to take care of it, but he wouldn't listen. He insisted that we delay our departure by HOURS so that he could force me to kill the clutch in herman just a little bit more, and so he could shred apart the bracketry of my jeep.

In hindsight, I agree with his decisions.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I could probably just solder a wire to the DB37 pin instead of using the conductor on the board where it burnt (looks like it was just the one conductor for the injectors) and clean it up. Just replace the driver and possibly transistors and it should be good?

Worst case is just send it back as warranty at this point, if they'll even take it.
As long as it's two layer or less that should work - I'd strongly recommend replacing the connector, you never know what's going to be charred or melted under it on the other side. I would suggest using a dremel to butcher the connector about 50 thousandths off the surface of the board, then remove the remainder with your best wire cutters and use a solder-sucker to remove each pin and the solder from the holes... desoldering a 37 pin connector like that without damaging the board can be a real bitch since it's got plated through holes on the PCB.

Then find all the burnt traces, etc, fix em or jumper around, and install a new connector.

I can't believe they used a db37 for shit like injector drives. Those pins aren't too reliable with data signals on them, putting significant current through them is sloppy, unless they ganged a few together for each high current line.

He probably doesn't have power. A lot of northern NJ is pretty hosed from what I've heard.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ya, Sandy was a b*tch for sure. I have a few friends who are down in NJ/NY and they got hit good. Friend lives in Battery Park and I guess had 13ft of water.

Lost power for 2 days here.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Not one, not two, not three, but five and a half hour drive into the city this morning.

I thought they were only letting HOV 3+ vehicles in.

I'd have given up after 3 hours
