i have a pinion skid for it so ill have something to weld it to. and its getting a simple shave job. just chopping metal off. no welding or ring gear trimming

How much do you want for yours anyways chris, I might as well kick some more tires

I paid $750 for it as a CUCV military-surplus axle w/0 miles, with the disc brake conversion done already.

I realize the truss may or may not add value, depending on the application.

It's also been beat on pretty hard for the last 5 years.

Call that the starting point for negotiation.

And I now have a NSG370. Thanks Ken (partsxj)!

Headed to my garage shortly to try fitting it up with the D300.

Side note, that girl Eileen I mentioned the other day...saw her again last night. Emotional wreck, she finally gave up trying to be strong about her whole situation and I showed up at the perfect time to be the shoulder to cry on. We ended up talking for a long time again and I would've driven her home except an empty cab showed up. Talked to her today after she woke up, got her number and we'll be hanging out again soon.

So I took today off work, got a transmission, and a really cool girl's number. Still waiting for the hidden bummer factor. :)

Hydro boost booster went out in my dads dirtymax. Do I fix it or let him take it to the dealer? I'm gunna price it out when I get home, I don't think it should be too hard to swap.

COLIN! how different are the gas nv4500's from the cummins

Ross is dumb.

They have a smaller input and mainshaft.

1.125" 10 spline vs 1.250" 10 spline. With that comes different bearing retainers. Same gear cuts though so the shafts/retainers are interchangeable.

23 spline vs 29 spline. Along with the different splined mainshafts are different 5th gears (on the main and countershafts).

Different bellhousings.

SAME ratios if they're both from a Dodge. GM had the lower first gear in the early years.

Early NV4500s had a different shifter connection than later ones (screw on shifter vs slip fit) and hence different shifter cover/tower.

That's about it.

you think a gasser would live behind a 12v CTD?

I went to register the bike and get my permit today, but forgot about the RMV-1 form:doh: At least I got my permit, and the woman at the counter gave me a 'pass' so I don't have to wait in line tomorrow.
