Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Seems about on par.
it is always your fault :twak::twak::twak::twak::twak::twak:

how do you get rained out for diving? equipment gonna get wet?
I'd think more of a wind and lightning issue... or just not wanting to prep in the rain?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I would make the educated assumption that it has everything to do with divers being giant XXXXXXs.

I know.

haha, no.

Yep, its more of a safety issue. Normally we would have no problems going diving in the rain, we are going to get wet anyways. Its a "heavy ass rain, windy seas, dark in the night don't want to lose anyone and its going to be a rough entry on slippery unforgivable rocks" type thing.

Do you want to carry 70 lbs of equipment down this in the dark, while its pouring and slippery?

Carmelo actually is correct with his statement.

take a regular cherokee, romove the exhaust rigght in frt of the cat, tell me how wonderful the low end pressure is, exrythime blue jeep lost its exhaust it fell flat on its face

That's not because of backpressure

x2

Still having a cat on and losing the buffler back and I could notice the lack of power.

Haha!

Its the speed of the exhaust moving out of the chambers (past the valves) that does this. Simply put without a "pull" or scavenge of that exhaust out of the chamber there is no reason it wants to leave other than the piston moving back up. That's what creates the loss in power. Air in and out as fast as possible is what creates power, not necessarily as open as possible.

He is correct!

makes sense, with a full exhaust you get enough mass flow that the momentum of the gases moving out 'pulls' them out of the cylinders, because the average pressure in the system is below the cylinder pressure with the exhaust valve open. pull the exhaust and there isn't enough of a column of gases in the pipe to keep things moving right.

at least that's how I think about it :dunce: someone who knows fluids will probably tell me I'm wrong.

My 98 has zero power right now (that happens when you're down two cylinders) and it got even worse when I pulled the muffler for testing.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ken is on the right track... he gets it.

A 3" pipe isn't always better than a 2" pipe in exhaust. It is about maintaining the speed of the exhaust flow.
