THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My mom's friend had a brand new passat.

Ended up catching on fire on the side of the road because of some electrical issue.

while vdubs are nice cars to drive.

they seem to be hit or miss when new. and they all turn to shit in 6-10 years

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Stupid question but what would it take to update the '93 AC system to something I can charge myself? I was going to try and patch the hose that I drilled through and get my AC working again but I just remembered that you can't buy the old refill kits anymore. Is there a simple solution or is it going to be a PITA and/or expensive?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

just go to auto parts stores or truck stops in the middle of nowhere out west and dust off a 20 year old can of r12 for $2.99

then realize no one sells hoses/adapters to fill r12 anywmore

and i think that was arkansas. explains a lot.

AC is for wimps, open your windows.

Light saber would whoop the plasma.

I said that when we first started, it would be done by now.

Transfer case just blew into pieces, sitting on the side of the highway

I got the 231 outta red jeep and a brand new SYE kit for $150. I could deleiverr that's and the tire to you if you want for a few bucks in gas money.

That's why I asked, I thought I recalled looking it up and finding it to be super expensive. And I need enough to completely refill the system so thanks but I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be enough :(

That's what I do 99.9% of the time but since I hope to drive the Jeep a lot more frequently I would like to have it for A) defogging windows and eventually also for those days in the summer when i get stuck in traffic. No carpet, no headliner, and no AC make the Jeep a damn sauna even with the windows open.

heat defogs things, get them above the dew point and the fog goes away. Even with no AC and a pinhole leak in the heater core in the 98 I can defog the windshield completely by cranking the heat.

I do have to use my hand as a windshield wiper on the inside of the windshield till the engine heats up though

maybe sometime I will fix it.

Yeah yeah yeah, but AC makes it easier and it's nice to have in the summer.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I love AC.

Even had it in my '92 XJ.
My '93 worked mint until I put a drill through the soft hose behind the passenger side wheel well :(

The Briarwood was converted by the dealership to r134a.

I think I decided I may go that route... I'm either going to replace all my busted shit and buy some R12 off ebay or bring it somewhere to have them convert it to R134a for me.

Or just decide AC isn't all that necessary and keep driving w/o it
