what can i do to keep my carpet above my muffler from smoldering?

ive had a bad burning smell in my jeep for a while and just took a peek under the carpet and its all charred.

the muffler is about 2" from the floor. no heat shield (guess i could make one out of some aluminum sheet)

cookie pan? Mine has been making some funny smells, its like a half inch from the floor.

its not running rich, nor lean.

and the muffler doesnt turn colors. the header does on occasion, but i have read that this is normal

mine does it too after a minute or so on the rev limiter in snow.

I am extremely sore. Just woke up in fact. Time to go work on the roof... ow.

so i know some of you know a couple of my friends jess and allie.

well i was at a party last night at a good friends house. and i'm outside with some people. we head inside and all i hear is people talking about a chick fight. I'm like "what? who?" so i ask around and someones like "this girl Allie fought margaret over some dude sam" i'm like "Oh no, wait, what? margaret was outside with me just now"

(Allie and I used to kinda have a thing, and now im kinda with margaret so i was a little worried something might go down)

But it turns out Some random girl started something with Allie and Allie proceeded to beat the shit out of her. and she left the house crying. Then about 10 minutes later the random girl comes in and tries fighting Jess, but we break it up pretty quickly.

Random girl left a lot of her hair behind lol.

i went out back and cut up my collapsed tin shed. i'll make a shield out of that.

but i physically didnt have a rear 02 sensor for a while (shouldnt mess with anything but the cel) but i was wondering if maybe the fact that it wasnt there could have messed up the 5v signal voltage for the other sensors.

i didnt have any codes though, so that doesn't seem likely.

after a short drive if i spit on the very end of my tailpipe it sizzles off. not sure if thats acceptable or not though, soesnt seem right. at least not that hot.

lol. it was a pretty fun time. the random chick went outside later and apparently tried getting all her guy friends to come in and get her back. but nothing ever came of it and eventually it was just 4 of us left at the house. and we looked around and nobody was left lol.

and i got pulled over on the way home. and had to get outside my jeep and do all the drunk tests. i passed with flying colors.. this was about 4:30 am

The solid front axle gasser 63/64 nova near it had a flipped 2WD XJ front beam under it.

Nope, but I will admit way back in my lightbar days I ordered one. I test fit it then promptly came to my senses that a XJ is not a mid-80s pickup and returned it.

my old jeep (1990) came with one from the factory i assume, along with running boards. i promptly took both of those off, as well as the "wing" in the back
