Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

A swap meet im unaware of?!?! I wouldn't go anyways, I wanna finish rear bodywork and assemble leafs and have the rear sitting on its on today. I also feel horribly sick so I hope I can still move.
I Looked at a poster too quickly. This year they decided to have a separate swap meet for motorcycles, with the auto swap meet next weekend, so I drove to stafford for a tiny motorcycle swap meet.
I did buy a couple of slide rules that give drilling, milling, and cutting speeds. If I choose to ignore that the vendor will be there next weekend, I can pretend it wasn't a complete waste of gas.

The real swap meet is next sunday. http://www.staffordmotorspeedway.com/AdvertisingBanners/2011-SPRING-TY-RODS.jpg

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

No biggie, Im pretty sure the guy I got it from has more. If not, I'll make him buy me a ring gear spacer or find another one or something.
Better to find out now I guess rather than the day you bolt the ring gear to it.
There's no such thing as an obligatory dig on me. That's just just Bill being Bill.

Sheep is driving home. Everything works, no clunks, rides mint. I don't think I've done this much to a XJ in 2 days and had it all work correctly. Thanks to Josh and Ken lending a hand yesterday.
:kissyou:

Glad to here he's running good.

thoughts? sugestions?
Seems like a lot more going on than needed, then again there is a pretty rainbow of colors in that drawing. Cut, run some braces, optionally skin them, done.

Wait what?

Here is a 30sec drawing of what I did:

Blue = 2x6x0.250" (or 0.375" wall I forget)
Grey = 2x2x0.250"
Black = stock XJ stuff
Green = sheet-metal backing
Yellow = 1/2" UHMW
Red = 1.5" spacer

Still lost but oh well.

Bill:

Apparently Rob and Travis thought they were supper cunning and encoded "H2's" and "37's" as the following.

i herd from a little bird that someones gonna be missing some Achetooths and dirty stephans tomorow

They in fact did not reach their cunning potential that they thought they had achieved. At no point in their rambling, incoherent response were they even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this thread is now dumber for having listened to it. I award them no points, and may God have mercy on their souls.

Nice, what did you guys do?

That's the way bolt on stuff is supposed to go :thumbup:

Having help is key.

How did the rest of the LA install go? Those frame rail holes looked like a pain in the ass...

4.5" leafs and shackles, extended brake lines, treks LA, SYE, track bar, jks disconnects, and I'm sure I am forgetting something.

EDIT: oh yeah, bilsteins, BPEs front and rear, upper JKS stem converters on the fronts.

Ken's list is pretty accurate.

Yeah, but it rarely seems to work that smoothly :laugh: If I assembled the oil pump part of the 231 correctly the first two times we'd have been done even sooner. :eyes:

I've never worked on a jeep with a cleaner underbody than this one.

Haha when I did my brother's SYE I forgot the spring that sits over the shift rail. I literally torqued the last case bolt and looked down on the bench and saw it.

Yeah his XJ looks nice. My brother's is finally starting to rust in some places. His was MINT when he bought it a couple years ago. Amazing how fast salt kills it.

I'm not making excuses, but I had a few too many people crowding the workbench and was just thinking "oh, let's put all this on" not "this piece needs to be in the tailcone." It was my fault. Conveniently, I have about 2.5 NP231's to take spare parts from. So part of Colin's old 231 might be in Sheep's XJ. Not sure whose old 231 the oil pump came from.

Sheep's XJ rode really really nice. We took it for a quick spin, hit some bumps as hard as we could and no rattles, clunks, etc. If I had a jeep that rode that nicely, I'd DD it.

The TNT kit is definitely not designed for '01's. The exhaust on Sheep's was not only bigger but hung a little lower than the normal setup. His exhaust is resting on part of the crossmember. I'm not really sure anything can be done other than installing a new exhaust system and massaging it to clear.

To answer Ken's question about installing the kit, after we got the crossmember up bolting the long arms up and getting all the links connected took 45 mins tops. We didn't start dissasembling the front end and stuff till about 6pm last night. The front was back on its own weight by about 7:45 or 8. That comes with practice. The first time I swapped control arms all I changed were short arm lowers and it took like 4+ hours. Didn't know what the hell I was doing and had about half the tools I do now.
