That's another thing, with the R&P spinning, it keeps them (and the bearings and seals) coated with oil. I've seen ring gears rust at the top when left at the same position for long enough that the oil all drained off.
not really, if the chain is disengaged. If it's a fulltime case with no 2wd option I agree 100%.that puts load on the t-case tho. spiders are easy to replace.
The spiders barely move when you're traveling in a straight line, so it's more that the R&P/driveshaft are moving instead of the spiders.I'd rather not, you're crazy.
There's gear oil constantly bathing the gears, I doubt they'd see much wear at all over the lifetime of the thing.
After 90k miles when I popped the cover, everything looked mint.
I'd rather have less moving parts than more moving parts. Not sure how you can claim the opposite is better.
