THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ross, I managed to get a pair of 42s into the back of red jeep, I could have fit 3 but didn't want to lift another and was only 1 inch off the bumpstops by then.

my worst was 4 37x13" boggers and one 37x12.5 ssr

and tools, spare parts and camping gear.

it was a squeeze

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

hahaha wow, were those on rims?

Mine were 12 ply / load range F tires (military NDTs) with tubes and rims, they weigh far too much.

By far too much I mean I have to put my back into it to get one upright and lifting one is not gonna happen. Figure 200-300lbs.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I hate small things that can make a work day much less bearable... like having to take notes with a shitty pen all day.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

FO CO!

thats one of the towns we didnt make it to on the trip.
i have heard its a pretty happenin place though

 it is, i really like that area of CO and will be moving back out there someday.

4 doors are more practical

but 2 doors are sexy as hell

4dr is practical for people carrying, but for carrying junk around i love my 2dr. i almost never have the rear seat up and have a piece of plywood cut to fit the entire area.

i love hanging my arm out the 2dr window opening much better

with the stock fullsize spare in place, i got 5 mounted 35" claws in the back and the 6th tire was strapped to the roof.

This. After driving 2dr vehicles for the last 6 years I hate driving in 4dr vehicles now. And it's one of the few reasons I hesitate to buy a truck. I like the longer door.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I honestly like 4dr sized doors more... and they don't taco when you take the doors off!!!1

If they ever made an MJ with 2dr sized doors and a small back seat I would be looking for one right now though.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

stock xj hinges love the longer door too :gee:
my hinges love my larger doors so much I can't get them back on now that I took them off :D

Yeah, that thought crossed my mind though idk how it would look. Might look a bit odd. would have to be a ridiculously small back seat too, I would think it would only be enough room for maybe a bit more interior storage.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Score!!! Looks like I found somebody who wants to trade my open 8.8 carrier for their posi 8.8 carrier. Red jeep will be able to leave nice looking rubber marks now :greensmok

:roflmao:

I'm not one to crap on people USUALLY. But man, when someone gives a dumb sarcastic remark and completely doesn't read what I posted...

Kinda pushes my buttons.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Anyone know of a place I can buy d30 outers for U-joints built to fit a WJ unit bearing and knuckle, for less than an arm/leg/firstborn?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Alaska puts NH to shame. Going into Denali today. Can't wait

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

You need D30 stub shafts...?
I've come up with a harebrained scheme to avoid welding WJ knuckles... redrill WJ unit bearings for 5 on 4.5 (been done, works fine according to many people) and use a WJ outer built for a U-joint, which should put the U-joint on the centerline of the balljoints. I could use XJ/TJ/MJ outers except that the splined section and threaded end are not long enough to go through a WJ unit bearing with enough thread engagement.

In the end I'll probably just do it the way everyone else does, XJ 99.5-up unit bearings + XJ shafts and the weld on spacer, just trying to see if this would work.

EDIT: yeah, this is a straight up retarded idea, new stub/outer shafts alone will cost more than the savings and that's assuming I never have to replace them.
