THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

haha, ok that works - if we do it tomorrow, it'll be the fourth day in a row I have driven nothing but the massivemobile :firedevil thursday is out for me, car show then, but tomorrow or wednesday works. Great news on the job, not so much on the trip.

Your computer is that old? Weird, even as an intern I got top of the line equipment and got to do my own linux install on it right off the bat. Our lab was pretty awesome, almost everything was open source, we had a couple windows machines we used just to check our email and write presentations etc.
Tomorrow should be good.

The computer isn't old. They just suck. It was a 218 BSOD... Getting reimaged and I should get it back in a few days.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

anybody wanna wheel sunday?

i want to do somethin cool

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

grow a sack and wheel the ctd

torque is good for wheeling

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

What about Saturday wheeling at Lobster's?

Ross, I still need to change my u-joint and fan clutch before I go wheeling. The u-joint is an absolute must, just ask Anthony, that thing has so much play, it will blow up first thing if I try anything.

Fan clutch I can do up here, but I can't just pull a wheel and disassemble the passenger side knuckle on the streets, plus I don't have a jack.

I also need to change my rear shocks real soon, I was bottoming out on the highway on the ride back to Boston yesterday, that's sad.

yo dawg, you need a tow rig for your tow rig that tows rigs.
I'm fairly certain I could tow the CTD with a fully loaded 3-place trailer behind it :D

I'd only be doing about 45mph though.

Why not? Clearly you don't subscribe to the appropriate ghetto vehicular repair methods. Rip that sucker apart and work on it wherever you happen to be parked, just make sure you park with the side to be worked on away from traffic or your ass will get run over in a hurry.

Looks like I'm driving the massivemobile home in a thunderstorm... damn glad I put the roof on it!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I got a set of shocks/rear BPEs I'll sell ya for $20 Mark.

They worked perfect in the back of my XJ.

Still good AFAIK.
What kind? These were post fix of you using your rear shocks as bumpstops like me, correct?

Exactly, I don't subscribe to everyone here's ghetto vehicular repair method. (Not you Ken, everyone in general). I don't think I can even work on the street with this level of repair, none of the streets are level, all the storm drains go to the harbor, and they have laws that you can't dump anything down it (in case anything spills), and its all irrelevant because I don't' have a jack to even lift the vehicle up.

Edelbrock IAS.

Yup, post fix. They're stock length YJs (I think). Either way I had plenty of uptravel, with moderate droop. Definitely more uptravel then droop and I never bottomed out after these.

Don't see a problem here :dunno: jack it up enough and the diff lube won't even be close to coming out of the axle tube. The lack of a jack is somewhat of a problem, I forget that not everyone leaves the 3 ton hydro in the back. As for ghetto, I'm pretty much shamelessly ghetto about repairing vehicles these days... I have to be, or I'd never get anything done. Well, shamelessly ghetto about WHERE I repair vehicles. I still clean up after myself (unlike most of my neighbors, from the look of things) and build/repair things "right" rather than hacking up the most ugly cheap fix possible.

Holy fawk this kid who went to school with me / got the same job is driving me NUTS. They had both of us go to TX this week for a training class and he is so horribly boring and closed minded I dont know what ill do. The rental car is a XXXXin charger, brand new but he refuses to drive it like a rental, let alone drive it past 1500rpm, and wont let me drive it either. Gaaaghh. /rant

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Trying to set up my rear right now. This any good for a pattern? Backlash is perfect but I can't seem to get the mesh centered.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Keith, if I'm reading that correctly, the pinion is too deep.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Josh - you gonna be at the foxboro car show this week? I can bring the steering stuff if you still want it.
Bump - you gonna be around tomorrow evening or sometime Thursday? I'll be in your area both of those days, can bring the battery etc.

That's kinda lame, though I'm usually pretty tame with rentals too. I'm more comfortable beating on a vehicle I own and know how to fix and where to get dirt cheap parts for, etc. I try not to be an annoying arse though :roflmao:

Keith - I'm a gear idiot, but since the pattern is too far in on the convex side and too far out on the concave side, makes me think the pinion is too far in... maybe try pulling it back a bit and moving the ring gear toward it to compensate?
