Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I wanna make a bunch of welds. Im gunna pick up a fresh roll of wire for the MIG and a new bigger tank for the TIG and go to town on the 60's truss and mounts.

I got new batteries for my helmet today and fixed some misc crap on my truck.

Apparently somewhere down the line someone decided that just pushing two wires together for my pass side fog light on the CTD and wrapping it in electrically tape was a suitable substitute for a connector.

Corrosion thought otherwise.

All better now, both foglights work.

Tomorrow I may tackle the heated seat, or just start welding some random stuff together.

Is that what chevy has been doing with their fog lights for the past 10 years?

So I have decided I need a XJ as a DD... the altima just doesn't flex enough. Plus it just doens't work as the bridge vehicle between a wrangler and a grand

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Edit: Side note, I have a salsa jar of ATF + acetone sitting on my desk with a couple hood pins in there. Hopefully that works to break the nuts free. Either way I now have a jar of ATF+acetone for when I need it. Going to be adding some oil of wintergreen as soon as I can get to a CVS and pick some up. Apparently that stuff actually works well alone and works great mixed in with the acetone + atf... plus it makes it smell 'a bit' better
I replaced the upstream O2 sensor on my MJ literally right before getting on the road to head for PA today, man that was a bit stressful. Had to cut the cable off it to get my wrench over the sucker and I'm almost certain it was the original, it was VERY frozen in there. I can twist off a 3/8" bolt with one hand on a good day and that sucker was going NOWHERE. Finally got it to turn about 1/16th of a turn at a time by bracing my feet against something and pulling as hard as I could with both hands. Then I put ATF/acetone on it and instantly it was moving with one hand and not really trying. That stuff works wonders.

Amazing the crazy rigged shit you'll find on a used vehicle, my OEM fogs on my XJ (before I ran it into a guardrail and wrecked one of them) were connected up by jamming the ends of the wires into the connectors on the headlight harness and then wrapping it with electrical tape.

Well you know the hood pins I am talking about. Finally getting around to doing something with them. And the next step, as I said, is to put maybe a dozen or 2 drops of oil of wintergreen in there. I heard that oil of wintergreen alone works pretty well over time. So throw some of that in with this mix and it's pretty good or so I have heard. :dunno:

Edit: and i just found out PB blaster has a new can... maybe its been a while since I bought a can but the can I got a couple wks ago has a rounded top. And there was one time doing the brakes today that I almost grabbed the PB when I wanted the brake parts cleaner. Whoops :D

Edit: I will be hanging out in chat cause I'm just that cool

Edit yet again: I have also heard that marvel mystery and and possibly Kroil gets it's smell from oil of wintergreen so it's possible it actually does a good deal of good. Only one way to find out.

Ya, didn't do crap today, back was hurting a little too much.

No place local carries SPST relays with 5 terminals on them.

Did have a nice lunch out with the parents.

Are stock 5-pin relays in the older XJs SPST or SPDT? I can't remember.

Why not grab some of those out of a JY or something?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm trying to look for my box of relays/fuses out of that PDC I got from Bump that time with you a while back.

If I can't find those, I'll just try to crawl through the parts in my basement to get to the wire harness I pulled out of the red jeep.

I have a butt load of SPDT relays though now. Not sure what I can do with them.

I also said local, because I wanted to get the relays today so I could put the E-codes in today. The most local Junkyard to here is probably Everetts, and if I was going to make a special trip like that for relays, I would just order new ones instead.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

The only stock 5 pin SPST relay in an XJ that I know of is the ABS relay on some years. I forget which, and I'm not even certain on it. All the small 5 pin relays are SPDT though.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So I have been thinking about it and have come to the conclusion that I need to swap out the brake fluid in the altima. When I first got it the brakes were SUPER sensitive (almost too much so). Now they feel quite soft; they stop great but only with good pressure on the pedal (they used to stop with minimal pedal movement; now takes a decent amount of pedal movement). Also, funny thing, I can't find the clutch fluid reservoir or MC whichever it is. but yeah, brakes feel a bit soft so brake fluid gets swapped tomorrow. Hopefully that's it
