THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So I heard that gas tank skids are not interchangeable between newer (plastic tank) XJs and older (metal tank) XJs. I see that JCR offers different skids for old vs new but I could have sworn others (maybe rusty's?) only had one option unless you have to pick the year when you were actually ordering.

Are aftermarket skids sometimes universal do they all depend on the year? I am looking at pick up a used gas tank skid and idk what year Jeep it is for, trying to figure that out.

from what ive heard the older style fit on the newer style with some trimming of the lip

someone correct me if im wrong

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

scott, i trimmed an old one to fit my gas tank... i have a pic somewhere in my thread "too much jeep stuff in college apt" but i don't remember what page it's on and i can't see photobucket at work, so you might have to go searching through it yourself.

another solution is the ZJ gas tank skid, then you just need to redrill the mounting holes. either way. there's minimal modification.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

billy, did you ever get that spindle off the 44?

I heard that too, but it doesn't help me since I have a '93

I have an old XJ so I would need the old tank skid. So that wouldn't help my case.

So I guess I need to find an old tank skid. Are there any differences in the other skids (T-case, engine, etc) other than 231 vs 242 for the t-case?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

old skids are pretty common. they can be had for ~$40.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

psssh, i was only goin slow cause i know colin didnt wanna go above like 70. the dirtymax will flat out fly on the highway, its soo smooth with the jeep on it.

my jeep can do speeds up to 90 mph on unbalanced 35's and is silky smooth, little wind noise and gets up there pretty damn quick. i find myself crusing along at 85 without knowing it

governor comes in at 91 mph and makes my jeep go GADUGUGHOOSHKNANK

Ken, when you see this sign, prepare to change your pants.

i never did rock creek on anything smaller than a 37, but i made it my bitch.

if you had 54" tires on rockwells, could you jeep speed across rock creek?

i challenge anyone to a gauntlet time trial

the hard one uphill

47 seconds is mah record

wow, this post makes me look like a cocky a-hole

Yeah, but I want a beefy aftermarket one. None of that stock stuff. :D Though $40 sounds pretty nice... Will have to see if this 2nd hand one would work. If not, off to the JY and such.

Edit: And to get the T&T longarm or to try and make one myself...

...I think I will end up running the T&T. For the good of my rig and everyone around me I think that might be the best idea.

Is there a NAXJA discount code for T&T?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So I hear from a little bird that there is going to be a spring all you can carry at Holland's...

said little bird is going to email me in a few weeks when the date is set in stone.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

T&T longarm = radius arm = :puke:

3 link or gtfo.

cool about the all you can carry. too bad i can't think of a damn thing i need.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

As much as everyone (including myself) craps on radius arms, the TNT setup is probably the best one out there.

I don't have any first hand experience with 3-links, but until I do, I can honestly say it hasn't prevented me from clearing an obstacle.

OH so now that you PLAN on running a 3 link (don't even have it) you are suddenly one of THOSE guys?

i had no reason to hate my radius arms, yea they unloaded, but they never stopped me from doing anything. havent really wheeled mah 3 link hard yet, but we will see if there is much of a difference.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

who needs suspension flex, just beat on it till the whole unibody twists to keep the tires on the ground

... I figured that as the plan all along, with some of the people I see wheeling :D

How good is Hollands? It's a hell of a drive from me but if I can find a 9"/HP44 then it might be worth driving up. And yes, I will carry both out

I was planning on designing my own 3 link; but as stated above, it may be a better decision if I don't. I don't like the BDS long arm since the LCA brackets hang down below the x-member so far. Then again I guess that's why i kinda like the radius arm setups; the lack of brackets below the x-member. Maybe I will have to just man up and get the IRO longarm kit :firedevil:

Then again maybe I should just build my own. I don't mind cutting into my floor to get good angles and I doubt any kits that are regularly up for sale will have that option.

for the money the Radius arms would be better than what I have... but I guess that comment makes me wonder if my money would be better spent on something else. Daaaamn youuuu!

Don't you already have a 9?

They've got some stuff, Ross got the axle he wanted. I picked up most of what I wanted except for the axles, they don't have any 4cyl XJs there as a rule (I was looking for 4.10s) but we pulled a decent amount of stuff. I got the TJ flares I have, two tranny coolers, a few sets of 97+ heated/power mirrors, and some other junk all for 75 bucks, I had a rust free d30 hanging by one bolt by the time I gave up since it had 3.55s anyways. Bring ratchet straps and stuff if you're planning on anything heavy. Remember you're going to have to carry your stuff something like 20 feet to meet the all you can carry requirements - this doesn't include tools if you have someone else around to carry those out for you.

EDIT:
vvv I hear you can just use 3 steering stabilizers to achieve the same results vvv
