THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

who needs suspension flex, just beat on it till the whole unibody twists to keep the tires on the ground

i dont run longer control arms for the flex

one of the last reasons in fact.

anybody can make shortarms flex a hella lot.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

blah whatever. i will say that i've seen colin beat his setup and they've never given him a huge problem, even when they do unload. but i'm doing a 3-link because i might as well.

i had about 10.5" of front suspension travel with short arms. and my control arm angles were disgusting.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

ive had my front tires in the air and coils 3" from the perch and still made it up some shit

i had no idea this was happening until i saw the pictures later

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Don't you already have a 9?

Yes. My plan is to run the XJ width 9" and D30 for now.

Eventually I will be building a full width 9" and HP44 so I can handle a doubler t-case. At which time I will be selling the XJ width 9" and D30... Or building a mall crawler DD

I figure I will start shopping all the "all you can carry" days until I find a good set that I can pick up cheap. Then i will just hold onto them until it is build time (next winter or spring/summer 2011).

Can't see da coil dough.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'd be nervous about running a doubler with a 44 with anything more than 35s.

At which point you don't need a doubler.

Fine then. I'll skip the 44 step... I will spend this summer plating the unibody and spend this winter or next summer building tons. :dunno: I just figured a HP44 could probably handle a doubler for a while. Guess my assumption was incorrect. Damnit. And now people are going to start asking why the hell I want this that and the other thing and telling me to just run small for a while etc... :D

Hmmm, so nevermind that previous shopping list. 14-bolt and D60 maybe. And yeah, I'll still carry that sh!t myself. :helpme:

im sure as hell i will get some air while 3 linked as well. like i said in the past, i dont quite understand how 3 links are so magical and keep jeeps on the ground on hillclimbs. but if there is a noticeable difference I will soon find out and post my findings.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i can safely say I have no intentions of a doubler or lower t-case gears.

If you pimped the hell out of a 44 it MIGHT survive who knows. But honestly, I'm going to hop on that bandwagon and say keep the stock t-case and just wheel it.

Sam was busting D44 stuff with a stock t-case with 36s-37s.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Part of the reason I want to build one is just to see if I could do it since it's a different type of thing than I have done yet. I just think it would be a fun project since I will have a spare 231 soon.

Hmmm, so JY shopping list for this wkend, hopefully it doesn't get too much longer.
-297x joint axleshafts
-Front driveshaft (if I can find an OK one). Just gotta figure out what Jeep it needs to come from to work behind an AX-15 w/ SYE.
-Checking for skids

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Rename+repurpose this one?

i like keeping things as simple as I can.

and my 44 is quite pimped

and one shaft broke in a parking lot

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

T&T longarm = radius arm = :puke:

3 link or gtfo.
:twak:

OH so now that you PLAN on running a 3 link (don't even have it) you are suddenly one of THOSE guys?
I know right? I'm not even "that guy". Radius arms might not be the best, but they are far from the worst. They do what 60% of XJ modifiers/owners need to do.
I hear you can just use 3 steering stabilizers to achieve the same results
Only if two of those are going in opposite directions parallel to the ground and the third is perpendicular to the ground. Be sure that nothing is within 15 degrees or so of your tie-rod or you will have issues!
blah whatever. i will say that i've seen colin beat his setup and they've never given him a huge problem, even when they do unload. but i'm doing a 3-link because i might as well.
I'm still on the "you should just get new joints/arms and wheel it now while thinking about building all that other stuff on the side" boat.

Like Rob has said in these agruements that have been in this thread 8 times already. Not everyone needs huge axles. Stay small, its a heck of a lot cheaper.
i can safely say I have no intentions of a doubler or lower t-case gears.
Me neither.
i think we need a nac "lots-o-tech" thread
I concur.
I might try an keep up with that one.

But half the fun I have with my Jeep is working on it. I want more projects! (yes I know I will have enough of a project building it to function well on small axles). Oh well. Y'all suck. Stop saving me money! :D

I guess I should just STFU and wheel.
